For sale is a beautiful great running 1940 Ford 2 door Sedan deluxe in absolutely beautiful condition. We have an appraisel in PDF form to send to any interested buyers. We have priced this 40 very aggressively and feel its within fair market value for this type of custom build.
Here is the story on her:
Bought in September 2001, it originally was equipped with a 307 Chevy motor with a power glide when purchased. Was not driven often and was under a cover with the engine cold when first viewed. Discovered the car in lake Arrowhead, CA. Prior owner lived there and felt the "bones" were good, no obvious rust anywhere on the car hence the launch of this custom project.
A highly renowned 40 friend named Richard Lux became the chief surgeon on the car and the transformation began. He added front disc brakes, power steering and tweaked the suspension over time. An opportunity presented itself in the form of a LT1 engine which came from a donor Corvette with approx. 3500 miles and the conversion started in 2004 which was not a quick task. Getting the proper fit and mount took 8 attempts in and out but in the end it turned out fantastic! We matted this powerful LT1 motor with a corvette 4 speed automatic transmission, Hot Rod heat and A/c, Dakota digital gauges, torque thrust mags, chrome garnish rails and a litany of other items to make it work in concert as a fine tuned old school hot rod. The stance was done just right and we feel that she sits well and rides even better.
The paint is DuPont black acrylic and was painted in mid 80's. Shows some patina on the drivers front fender but in the end shines like the black beauty she is. beautiful shine and depth. The interior is a La Boney baron grey which looks much like the original Mohair found in the 1940's
This 40 is a great machine to enjoy with family, friends and cruising to shows, a cruise to the mountains or along the beach is effortless as she is a very reliable 40. The cassette stereo is not worth listening to as we all know as hot rod'rs the throaty sound of the fuel injected corvette engine is a music to our ears. She will cruise all day at 85mph and has never overheated most likely because of the fine tuning and the addition of the Griffen radiator.
There is always more that can be done to personalize a hot rod but we were satisfied with the power, handling and overall cool style this 40 represents. The mileage noted in the appraise is not accurate. Since the motor and tranny was installed we believe the car has been driven approx. 4000 miles so I would estimate the mileage at about 7500. The wipers are not connected but out here in Southern California we really don't drive our hot rods in the rain nor do we ever get caught in unexpected storms. Clean CA title in hand, current CA black plates and reg. Registered in CA as a 1940 Ford
