1931 FORD MODEL A
PHAETON CONVERTIBLE
1978 GLASSIC / REPLICARS
WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA
HELLO YOU LOOKING AT A BEAUTIFUL & SUPER FUN 1931 FORD MODEL A PHAETON CONVERTIBLE, FROM GLASSIC / REPLICARS REPRODUCTIONS A 1978 PRODUCTION.
First, Some Information on the History of this Unique Rare Production Car:
Approximately only 1,600 fiberglass-bodied replicas of the 1931 Model A Fords were made by the Glassic Company in West Palm Beach, Florida. They were manufactured between about 1966 and 1981, at first using International Scout four-cylinder engines and chassis, changing in 1972 tothe FordMustang Powerful 302 cubic inch V-8 engines and specially built frames. Most of the cars were the Phaeton body style, but there were some Roadsters and only3 Model A Pickup Trucks were built. The company changed their name to Replicars in 1975, so the later models used that nameplate, although the name "Glassic" is used as a generic term for both nameplates.
Glassic replicas are sometimes confused with Shay replicas, about 5,000 of which were made during a similar time period. The Shay replicas more closely resemble the actual Model A, whereas the Glassics were modified a little in appearance to be more practical for contemporary driving. The Shay replicas used Pinto 4-cylinder engines, and consisted mostly of rumble-seat Roadsters and Roadster pickup trucks. Glassics can be identified by their wider doors and more contemporary 14 inch, or 15 inch custom wheels.
Now On this Classic Glassic / Replicars, This 1931 Ford Model A is #1268 of the production line fromthe 12/8/1978 line. It has seen only 25,060 miles since new. The car has always been cared for and was only used on sunny days and special Parades. The car operates as new and has been refreshed every year. All systems function and operate correctly. The car is very responsive and has a lot of power with the 302 V8! The car can really get up and go and is very fun to drive! People really look at this car especially when the Ford Model A flys up the hill past them in a blink! "What's under that HOOD!" It isa blast to drive! Very tight and nice power steering makingthis a very easy car to drive with tight turning radius. No problem doing a burnout either. Has a Tilt Steering Wheel with Wipers on the turn signal lever. 2 Front2 Rear,4 totalSafety Belts. The tires are great still and there are 6 radials' in all, 3 are still new and never have hit the ground in there carriers. NOTE: A great addition to this car would be the wide white wall tires, but with six topurchase, it is a bit pricey! We can do this at our cost if you would like to add them? The cars convertible top is a manual top and two people candothis folding up or downeasily. The side window areasdo havecomplete sidesnap units with clear vinyl windows,(see pictures)to keep the heat in, if this is needed, or air flow on a longer trip. The overall convertible top is in great shape and pliable. (two or three snap plugs are missing easy fix or addition) Paint and body are just about still perfect, no repairs or damage ever since new, but it has some pits and scuffs over the years with some road rash, 8 out of 10 rating. A/C blows ice cold, theheat blows very hot as needed. Very simple instrumentation at the dash all working correctly. Steering is tight and no slop or play.Engine was just gone through and the plugs, belts, hoses, all inspected along with all critical fluids and new gas with additives. Safety inspection also performed and driving tested in all areas, passed with flying colors ready to go!
A very good driving reproduction car to say the least. If this type classic is what your looking for, you will not find a better example at the price anywhere! Just a great fun car to ride in with family and parades with pride. A Icon of Americana Automobiles! Thank you for looking, please ask any and all questions before bidding! Happy to help on this end to make this a great transaction!
Happy New Year 2018!
