Car description |
---|
CAR IS LOCATED IN CALGARY ALBERTA, CANADA. If you are interersted you'll have to arrange shipping/pickup etc.
This is a Canadian built car from the Oakville Ontario plant.390 CI 2BBL EngineC6 Automatic transmission3:1 rear axle.Front Bucket seats with consolePower SteeringPower BrakesPower WIndowsPower Locks
I bought the car thinking it was in better shape from a body work perspective (as seen in a few of the pictures) but as always, nothing is as it seems. Some very poor metal work was done on the rear quarters and rear floor pans. They were buried under 1/2" of body filler. I have new full ones (aftermarket, not installed) that will go with it as well as the rest of the parts that came with the car.
The rear floor pans are OK, but not what a quality restoration would demand (see pictures). The front floor pans and frame (see pictures) all appear to be in good shape with no apparent rust.
The car is a convertible and the mechanism works however there is no top. Full interior re-upholstery would be required including a new top.
The engine is not seized but it has never been started as long as I have owned the car.
Comes as it sits in the photos with the rear quarters stripped to bare metal and the front disassembled. You will need a trailer to transport it along with enough space to carry the parts. (Pick up only, I cannot ship the car for you).
You'll notice a discrepancy in the VIN's. The inner fender VINs show 6B64Y194006 however the door shows 6B69Y194006. The door code is correct and Ford Canada suggest this was likely a mistake in stamping the fender and firewall plates at the factory (handwritten 9's can look like 4's i guess) especially since the sequence numbers match. This may deter some collectors, hence letting you know about it here to save you time and just being honest and upfront about the car. Based on what Ford and other experts tell me, it is a 500XL convertible, not something someone hacked together.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me and I'll do my best to assist.
Thanks for looking.
