Up for auction is an awesome 1965 Ford K-Code (Factory High Performance) Mustang Fastback 2+2
This K-Code was owned for many years by a local Mustang enthusiast, collector, and high-end Mustang restorer. He has restored high end Mustangs including Shelby GTs, K-Codes and R-Code Cobra Jets. His cars & collection are top shelf and he is very meticulous and detailed and with a passion for Mustangs.
This Mustang K-Code is restored in its correct factory color Rangoon Red paint. The original numbers matching engine was properly built and detailed as well as the transmission and all supporting parts. All the sheet metal and body is original
no body work or replacement panels were needed. The underside of the car was stripped down to the metal also and then prepped and sprayed with Southern Polyurethanes Red Oxide Epoxy Primer. The floors are original steel not replacements. I have pictures of the process. The paint and body are excellent. The body is laser straight with all gaps near perfect and the paint is as slick as glass, including the door jambs and trunk. The glass is the original, optional factory tinted glass with banded windshield
and all in excellent condition (60k mile condition)
The original numbers matching engine, C5AE-6015E (Date 4L19) vin stamped 5F09K379186, (and correct heads 20 & 19), was rebuilt to factory specs and factory details including parts (internal & external), and paints/colors (including paint dipping) and markings. The carburetor is the correct Autolite 4100 C6ZF-C (HIPO only) B5JD date code
manual choke, and correct Autolite dual point distributor C3OZ-12127-D. The list of correct parts goes on and I wont name each one here. The previous owner that was mentioned above has a mechanical shop which has been in business for almost 60 years and is one of the most trusted auto centers in Augusta, GA. with a rich history of integrity, quality, community, and customer care. I mention this so that you will understand that this build was done correctly and completely. The drive shaft was shipped to DEAD NUTS ON in Fresno, CA. where it was rebuilt including new center tube, correct paint markings, new correct Ford U-Joints, and cleaned the yoke
all as new and correct. (shown in pics)
The rear end is not the original. It is a Ford 9 shortened with 31 spline axles and the big bearings.
The interior is the original that came in the car. It was removed cleaned up and re-installed at the appropriate time during the restoration process. The car only had 60k miles on it, therefore the interior is in great shape. It includes the original seats, center console, front seat belts, door panels, head liner, dash, gauges, handles, knobs, and switches
all original to this car. Everything works even the original AM radio. The trunk has the original factory trunk mat, new gas tank, and what looks to be the original spare and jack. The window felts and tracks on both sides were replaced.
Tires are brand new BF Goodrich Silvertown Radials P205/70R14s from Coker.
This is an excellent Mustang. It runs great and it is tuned perfectly as you can hear in the YouTube video below. The paint and body are high show quality. It is 1 of only 466 K-cars built in Dearborn in 1965 and is listed and registered in the 289 High Performance 4th edition book by Tony Gregory.
