Recent Barn find!1966 Ford Mustang Deluxe Coupe. I saved this car from rotting in a literal barn last year. I cleaned it up, fixed a few things and got it running and have driven it over 1000 miles to various car shows and events. This pony had a 1998 restoration and it runs strong and drives great. It has the pony interior, original AC (disabled, but still holds freon and working pump), power assist steering (butter smooth and easy to steer with two fingers), power brake booster, numbers matching powertrain, adjustable rear air-ride suspension height, and original chrome is in great shape (replaced all four bumper guards). Interior is in great condition, gets lots of compliments at the shows, I would say an 8/10 overall. Exterior is a 7/10, has it's flaws. Vinyl top is in excellent condition, original glass is all intact, no cracks.
Items that could use attention are the front fenders which have bubbling and rust pockets on top. Lower doors have some bondo popping. Some trim pieces are showing age, but they are all there. There are paint flaws throughout, but overall it looks good from 10 feet away. A section of the passenger side floor pan was rewelded from inside the vehicle with sheetmetal, but some of the remaining old exterior rust still remains below it. The frame rails are intact. No holes showing through the interior and water stays out. Passenger side door seal will leak a little water when power washed. I only hand clean/wash.The 289 engine runs great and doesn't blow smoke while idling, but has lifter tick on idle from cylinder 8 (most common). The lifter tick goes away while cruising, and it doesn't affect the butter smooth ride. I will include the replacement lifters. The 3 speed trans is smooth.
New items that I replaced or fixed within the past year are the following (With Receipts):
Fuel tank and fuel neckFuel sending unitValve stem sealsValve covers and sealsOil pump, oil pump shaft, and pickup assemblyOil pan gasketWood grain Steering wheel (exact replica, have original)Bumper guardsGas Cap (have original)Gauge pod trim (have original)Also have spare gaskets, interior trim pieces, and new rear valance.
Clear Title in hand. Buyer to arrange for pickup/transport. $500 deposit required within 24 hours. Car is located near Ann Arbor Michigan.
