Reserve is less than buy it now but everybody asks what it will take to end the auction early so i added a buy it now.

Here is a 1971 Torino GT, it is a J code with matching # 429 Cobra Jet with C6 transmission, factory shaker hood, 3.25 nodular case 31 spline rearend, power steering and power disc brakes. Originally Grabber Green metallic which is a rare and desirable color. Black interior that was originally a bench but has factory correct buckets have been added. It has the matching # Cobra Jet engine and correct C6 transmission with "R" servo. Currently has orginal 15" Magnums that have some rust but are very hard to find and can be restored. Shows 35k on the odometer so probably 135k miles.

The body on the Torino is overall very solid and straight. It was originally Grabber Green Metallic but currently has a maroon paint job that is probably 30+ years old. The paint has chips, scratches and is checking. It still looks somewhat presentable and would look better if you buffed it out but it is probably a 20 or 30 footer (looks good from 20 or 30 feet away.) The body is very straight with no dents and maybe just a few minor dings. There is almost no rust and no evidence or rust repair or previous body damage. The floors were never undercoated so you can still see the clean original floors. With the carpet removed you can see mostly nice original paint but I found just a few small pencil tip sized holes in the driver's rear pan, You just need to weld up the little holes, no replacement necessary. Trunk is still original green and is very solid. Cowl, frame, torque boxes, trunk, trunk drop offs, doors etc are all very solid. There are a few small bubbles in the very bottom of the passenger quarter but very minor. There is some rust above the taillights in the weatherstripping channel that is visible when the trunk is opened. I did not put the seal in so you could clearly see the rust. Has typical rust under battery. The doors are in very good condition and they are not cracked out around the latch like so many Torino's. Glass is good and it appears that windshield is original. Original GT ribbed rockers panels are in very good condition, as is the thin aluminum trim above the rockers that is almost always missing from these cars. Bumpers are straight with decent chrome but will need to be redone if the car is restored. Grill is in good shape. Window, roofrail and wheel well trim are in good shape. Chrome that goes along the top of the door has typical pitting.

The black interior is in serviceable condition. It originally came with a bench seat but has been converted to correct Torino bucket seats. The seats are splitting at some of the seams and will need recovering. The headliner is nice and the carpet is brand new. It is the correct GT carpet with built in toe pads on both sides. The dash has a few small cracks but still looks pretty good. Door panels are original and still look pretty good with no speaker holes.

The matching # 429 Cobra Jet runs good with no smoke, knocks or strange noises. Being a 1971, it should have the standard 4 bolt mains. It retains the original Rochester carb which was recently rebuilt by Cliff's (a Rochester expert), original intake manifold, exhaust manifolds etc. The engine has had at least some work done to it in the past but I do not have the full information on what was done. It has the correct fan shroud which has a crack but can be repaired. These are getting very hard to find so I would encourage the buyer to fix the original shroud since repops, while functional, look nothing like the originals. Correct and original shaker. Exhaust is present but needs replacement, it has holes and multiple leaks. I thought it was best that the buyer replace the exhaust since some will want stock and others will want to go aftermarket. Original C6 transmission works well and has the correct R servo. Still has the original nodular case 31 spline 9 inch rearend with 3.25 open gears. Suspension seems good, steering has some typical play and the brakes work however the front brakes should be replaced for safety purposes. Master cylinder and rear brakes were replaced a few years ago when I bought the car. Heater, horn, gauges, wipers, lights etc work although the factory delay feature on the wipers is not functioning properly, not that this car will be driven in the rain. Even the reverse lights work! Tires have good tread but are fairly old. The shaker is original and complete other than the snorkel. The base has had holes drilled in it for some reason.

Here is your chance to get a rare 1971 Torino GT with the legendary 429 Cobra Jet and shaker. There aren't too many 1971 Cobra Jet's and very few are matching #'s with little rust. It is a very straight, solid with matching #'s. Could be on the road with a new exhaust and weekend's worth of maintenance work or do a full restoration. Lots of room for sweat equity on this one with restored Cobra Jet Torino's going well into the $40k range and above. I have owned this for a few years and have been meaning to at least make is a driver but I just can't seem to get to it. I have run out of covered storage so instead of let it sit outside I am going to let it go.

I will also have a 1970 Torino Cobra 429 Super Cobra Jet 4 speed drag pack project that will be for sale soon. It is a much bigger project and will need a complete restoration but mostly complete and very rare. Dark blue with blue bucket seat interior.

International buyers are welcome. Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 45 year old car that is not new or perfect. I have sold quite a few cars on ebay and try very hard to describe them accurately and to make sure potential buyers have any information I would want as a buyer. In fairness to all bidders I will not disclose the reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time, however, my intention is to let the auction run its course unless someone hits the buy-it-now. Full payment must be made within 5 days of auction end and vehicle must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. Payment by cash or wire transfer only. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I will help however I can. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid.
