This '67 started out life very well optioned. It was delivered to Los Angeles for export per the Marti Report, but from there the trail goes cold. There have been some very tasteful upgrades done that really make this a great car.
The paint on this car is in good condition with a great shine and a deep gloss. The chrome and bright trim are in great condition. When the car was restored the turn signals & backup lights were replaced with new units. The wing windows appear to have been very nicely re-chromed. There are lots of small bits that were done and too numerous to mention. Take a good look at the pictures, this car is beautiful.
Inside, the Blue Decor Interior is extremely impressive. Perhaps one of the best interiors of the era. This interior has both upper and lower consoles. The dash has the brushed aluminum that makes these interiors so desirable. The seat upholstery, carpet, headliner, door panels, trim, etc have all been replaced with quality reproductions. The original instrumentation has been upgraded with JME gauges for fully functioning gauges, an accurate tachometer and a 160mph Speedometer. The previous owner contracted with a well known local artist for a Rat Fink mural on the rear seat panel. As Mustang enthusiasts we at first wanted to repaint the panel. However, due to such popularity in some crowds we left it in place. The work is quite nice and would even be a great piece of garage art and just replace & paint to match a new panel.
The drive train in this car has been transplanted from a 1970 Cobra Jet Mustang. The 428CJ engine has been nicely built with an Isky Cam with .530 Lift, Duration is 240 @ .050 and a Lobe Separation of 108 degrees. The factory cast iron intake has been replaced by a very rare & valuable Original Ford Aluminum 427 'Side Winder' intake. Sitting on top of that is a Barry Grant Demon Carburetor. It has a very noticeable lope to the idle and an aggressive note to the exhaust. Power is more than adequate, turning the rear tires to smoke on a 25 mph roll.
The C6 Automatic Transmission is also from the 70 CJ. It has the correct Cast Iron Tail Shaft Housing and 'R' Servo. The shifts are crisp but not punishing. This is the combo you need to live behind the prepped CJ.
The 9" Differential again is from the 70 CJ. It has the bullet-proof 'N' Case housing and 31 Spline Axles. The gearing is 4.11 and is spun on a Limited Slip Differential. The engine is so well balanced that cruising at 60 is comfortable.
The Power Disc Brakes are highly appreciated with this type of horsepower.
This big block actually handles nicely thanks to upgraded front & rear springs, upgraded shocks, an upgraded front sway bar as well as an added rear sway bar. The 17" wheels also help with reduced sidewalls and modern tire technology.
Good looks, tons of performance and a pedigree to match!
