Car description |

Too many projects ahead of this one, so it's time to find another good home for a very interesting car.
This is the rarest of all Crown Victoria cars, and was built by Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd. The 1955 Meteor Rideau Crown Victoria had a total production of only 151 units, with just a handful of these cars left in existence today. These cars were sold at Lincoln-Mercury-Meteor dealerships only, at a higher price than the equivalent Ford Crown Victoria.
This car needs extensive restoration, and is not 100% complete, but being so rare it would be a good candidate to save. I have most of the important items to build this car. Sheet metal is useable - roof, hood, trunk lid and LH door are decent. The LH rear quarter panel has lots of body filler around the wheel opening - it was cut out at some point back in the 60's as it was a mild custom. The complete RH quarter panel would likely have to be replaced. Fenders need work but are useable. RH door is off of a 1955 Ford Crown and is solid, but has had a previous dent repair that needs redone. Floors will need some patches but are intact. Trunk floor is very good. Front crossmember in chassis has been replaced and is solid as I recall. Inner rocker panels are intact, and so are the inner braces, although a some may need repair. Outer rockers would likely be replaced.
There is no engine or transmission in the car -- I believe someone in the distant past was running an FE drive train in it -- it would have originally been a 272 Yblock, 4 barrel carb, dual exhaust with an automatic transmission.
I have the complete Meteor grille with the center star, hood bird, horn ring, and trim around the grille opening. I am missing the Meteor hood letters. I have a Meteor rear bumper, and front bumper cores to go with the car. Also, I have the RH quarter window assembly with glass, and have the trunk "V" ornament, but am missing the "star" flip up lock cover on the trunk. Also missing "V8" door keylocks (was test fitting one off another car in the photos - I don't have any spares unfortunately), and all the "Rideau" scripts. There are reproduction scripts available. The small crest on the RH quarter panel is missing, but I may have one.
As for side trim, I have the fender spears, and both large quarter panel rectangular pieces. Because the car did not have any other side trim when I purchased it, I pieced together a set of 1955 Meteor 4 dr sedan side trim, which can be joined/stainless welded to make up all the trim required to complete the car. Side trim for 2 door Meteor cars is otherwise next to impossible to get at this point. I have been using the same strategy with my other Meteor projects as I'm missing trim on many of them. I also have the RH side outer "tiara", as well as trim above the windshield, and on the top edges of the quarter panels. I'm not sure if I have the inner tiara trim pieces -- I will look. They are the same as a Ford Crown. The seats front and rear are complete and correct for a Crown Victoria.
This car was originally a "Tri Tone" paint finish - Colonial White on the roof and lower body, Buckskin Tan in the center, and a Raven Black slash. Interior is still the original copper vinyl and cloth combination.
I have a clear title for this car as well. Body style is "264AK55", designating a 1955 Meteor Crown Vic. It is located in northern British Columbia, but I can deliver within a 600 mile radius, including the Washington State border near Vancouver, BC, for $1.00 per mile open deck, or $1.30 per mile enclosed, one way. For overseas buyers, I can deliver to the Port of Vancouver for container shipping.
Please note that this car is being marketed via other methods, so this auction may be terminated at any time. Sold as is, where is. A deposit of $2000.00 is due within 24 hours of auction end, and the full balance is due within 7 days.
Good luck, and happy bidding!
