This stunning original 1956 Thunderbird was a weekend-use vehicle for a senior airline pilot for well over a half century. Being from Southern California (original black plate included) it has no rust, and has never suffered any body damage. It was ordered with the removable porthole hardtop and is not equipped with a convertible top. The original owner kept the car in top condition, using it only for short weekend drives, car shows and local parades. The car's condition reflects his mechanical acumen and careful usage. He added wire wheel hubcaps and windwings during his ownership, also the much-improved '57 TBird carburetor and intake manifold (see photos). Most importantly, he had an expensive (over $5000 installed) Flaming River stainless steel front end and steering system installed, which brings the road sureness and performance, particularly in turns and corners, many levels above that which most of us have experienced in vintage Thunderbirds. In passing on his favorite car as he became elderly, the gentleman sold it to another knowledgeable aviator, a retired experimental test pilot from the US Navy. I have continued to gradually improve the car in my three years of ownership. It has a backup electric fuel pump, currently unneeded but handy when needed. A 15" steering wheel in colonial white has replaced the standard over-large sedan steering wheel, providing much better handling and scaled properly for better appearance. This beautiful Thunderbird, with its rare peacock blue interior complimenting the classic colonial white exterior, can be driven anywhere even on the hottest summer days. A new owner will not be disappointed to own this fine collector car. The TBird will be delivered with its five original disk hubcaps, the original large steering wheel, the original California black plate, and a set of original owners and technical manuals in the trunk. We have tried to price this stunning vintage Thunderbird convertible attractively for its condition, including a reasonable reserve price. Our family wishes you good luck bidding!
