Conceived as an "import fighter" to combat the likes of the VW Beetle and the hoards of Hondas Datsuns and Toyotas. While its main competitors went to four cylinders and front wheel drive the little Maverick opted for old school six and eight cylinders and rear wheel drive. Unfortunately it was never as spacious or efficient as the Japanese offerings but it's sporty layout offered a good template for performance. The top engine was as 302cid V8 that produced 210hp and it offered decent speed if... not economy. GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this all original 1973 Ford Maverick. With the top of the line 302cid engine and automatic transmission this model is well equipped. Overall it is in very nice original condition with straight body panels and nice even paint quality with no fading. The chrome is overall in nice shape apart from a bit of trim near the windows that shows pitting. The lighting is all functional and it has the factory 14in wheels with decent tires. The interior is in good shape with a clean dash and rip free bench seat. It is finished in a light shade of blue. A few pieces of trim are being held with duct tape currently. The dash has just a speedometer and fuel gauge both of which work. The blower and windshield wipers are also functional. The car goes down the road well and it appears to have power steering. The 302cid sounds and runs good and pulls well with a smooth shifting automatic transmission. The brakes are strong and easy to engage but are not powered and have a bit of pull to the left. With a very clean and original body and a strong engine and transmission this is a very solid classic car and the previous owners enjoyed it for the last 13 years. A solid bit of compact American muscle these Mavericks are getting harder to find. To see over 80 photos of this car including under carriage please visit our website
