Car description |
---|
This slick looking 66 Fairlane 500 XL is located in Tennessee and is up for auction or for sale. I am helping a friend sell this car as he has more cars than space. It has been in our shop for a month. We have driven it and checked it out thoroughly, the car is clean and rust free. The under carriage is clean and very solid. The car was bought new in CA and comes with the original Bill of Sale and copy of original title. The current owner is 3rd owner. The 2nd owner bought the car from the estate of the original owner (she was an elderly woman who could not drive anymore) in CA. In 2002 the car was purchased and a 4 year project was underway. Being an XL model Z-code car, it had all the desired components (390, Console, Bucket Seats, and Auto Trans). The motor was changed to even a bigger motor and C-6 transmission from 1970 Lincoln. The 460 was built to specs (by a performance machine shop in CA) as was the C-6. The suspension was gone through and a Posi-trac rear 9'' Ford unit was rebuilt with 3:25 gears for great cruising. This car has great stance to it and is clean with all original, rust-free sheet metal. There is a dash cap on original dash and it looks good. In 2012 the 3rd owner bought car and cruised sparingly, he suggests he may have added 5000 miles since he purchased it. Obviously it is not a fresh restoration / build but it drives fantastic and handles great. The big block 460 feels to put out 450 + horsepower with much torque and the C-6 shifts crisply. The stance is lowered some and the long tube big block headers have touch ground at some point, per 3rd owner said his driveway up to house in TN was rutted. I drove here and picked car up, I can attest that is probably what happened to them. They appear not to leak or hinder performance. This car has a wicked kick down passing gear and will smoke the tires from any stop. When I took her out for a drive and kicked it down into passing gear, the safety glasses my buddy in the passenger seat was wearing flew off his head!
Pictures will tell what the car is and what it has.
Here is a 2002-2006 build list (have most receipts) list from the 2nd owner describing the work and investment he put in car:

1970 460 .030 / .010 crank, Isky Super Cam, SCJ "football" Connecting Rods / ARP Bolts, Seats (unleaded) and guides. HO oil pump, Clevite 77 bearings.

Re-cap: This is a powerful Big Block Fairlane that looks like a sleeper, performs great, is still a nice street-able driver, that gets noticed and admired everywhere. Great stance and great color. Test drives and inspections are encouraged before buying. Any Question will be answered promptly through eBay. Calls can be made to Al Morgan 931-432-6377 for answers or comments.
