1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II - Amazing and Unique - Must See

1977 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Interior: This vehicle's spectacular interior features seats. side panels and headliner covered in the finest French themed tapestry style upholstery. The driver’s and front passenger's seats. as well as the front arm rests are in need of restoration and probably replacement. The rear seats and headliner are in need of a good cleaning. The right front panel (passenger side) needs to be reattached. The center armrest in the rear seat is in good condition but it will not retract for some reason. Exterior Color: Burgundy with beige Landau Top Tires: Brand new whitewall tires installed about two years ago. Only have a few miles on them. Basically still in brand new condition. Paint: The condition of the vehicle's paint is fair in general. It looks okay from about 15-20 feet. Upon closer examination. you can see areas that were blended or touched up. plus some nicks. scrapes and chips throughout entire car. The trunk paint has some cracks and missing paint near the handle. There is also some paint cracking and minor body damage on the left rear quarter. A circular area of about 6” on the passenger door and the front right fender was sanded down and needs repainting. Pinstriping is missing on some of the panels that were resprayed. Bumper valances (front and rear) were removed and painted professionally. (see pictures). They are inside the car and need to be color sanded. buffed and then installed. Landau Top: The EverFlex Vinyl Landau Top is generally in good shape. but probably could use re-coloring and moisturizing treatment. Body: The condition of the Rolls body is generally excellent. I have not found any areas of rust. There is a small dent I recently noticed on the driver's door. Painted areas that need repair are noted in paragraph above about the condition of paint. Chrome Trim: Generally in good condition. Note: The Chrome trim for the hood was removed during a respray of the hood and is located in the trunk. The chrome trim around the headlights were temporarily put on for pictures. but have not been permanently installed. The headlight trim is inside the car. Wood Trim: The wood trim on the doors is faded and flaking off. All wood trim on the doors needs to be refinished. Mileage: The stated miles on this 1977 Rolls-Royce is "146. 68”. I don’t know if that mileage is correct. I have put less than 200 miles on this Rolls since purchasing it in 2009. Engine: The engine runs very strong. It passed strict California smog tests in 2010 and 2012 with flying colors. All belts and radiator hoses were replaced about 4 years ago. The radiator was professionally flushed and cleaned as well. However. this car is not ready for a road trip. See below. Title: This Rolls has a California salvage title. I am holding the actual pink slip. According to the prior owner. there was a small engine compartment fire and the insurance company “totaled” the car because of the cost of repair and repainting. All fire damage has been fixed as far as I can tell. The vehicle has been licensed. registered and insured in California since 2010. Brakes and Hydraulics: All of the brake calipers have been rebuilt and new rubber hydraulic hoses were installed. New brake pads were installed all around. Most of the hydraulics were rebuilt and many new hoses and seals were installed in 2010. Both accumulators performed well in 2010 and were not rebuilt. Unfortunately. there are still some hydraulic leaks in various places. especially around the main units below the driver's seat in an area affectionately known to Rolls-Royce mechanics as the “Rat Trap” which sometimes leaks even when these cars were new. Recently. brake system 1 light does not go out. so that accumulator may need attention. Electrical: A battery has been fitted which holds a charge and starts the car nicely. However. the generator light on the dash flickers on and off which is an indication that the alternator probably needs to be replaced (usually better to use a higher amperage single wire Delco). I also recall that there was a problem with the wipers turning on without being activated. so the fuse was removed. I have not reinstalled the fuse or tried to figure out what is going on with the wipers or the wiper switch. Some of the gauges move erratically and may not be working properly. so everything should be checked out before any long road trip. Fuel systems: A brand new aftermarket fuel pump and filter was fitted recently. The spark plugs were replaced several years ago. The carbs were rebuilt about 4 years ago. The engine is running strong. The 6. 75 liter V8 puts out an impressive amount of power. Transmission: Fluid changed several years ago. Never had any problem with the transmission. Exhaust system: The exhaust system appears to be in excellent shape. I believe the prior owner replaced the exhaust pipes and mufflers because of their bright appearance. Based upon prior smog tests. I believe the catalytic converters are working well. Alignment: Some of the rubber components in the steering were replaced due to age cracking. An alignment should be performed to make certain the alignment is still correct. Air Conditioning: Not working at present. No analysis done. but standard AC Delco compressor and all other components are present. This Rolls is 37 years old and needs work as detailed above. But it is rust free and has spectacular potential. It is a classic head turner. I am selling this Rolls with no reserve and at a low starting price of $7. 00.
