*I AM PLEASED TO BE OFFERING THIS 1956 FORD THUNDERBIRD FOR SALE. THIS IS A VEHICLE THAT I HAVE ON CONSIGNMENT FROM A VERY GOOD FRIEND.
*THIS SALE WILL BE COMPLETED THROUGH OUR DEALERSHIP. THE TITLE IS A CLEAN MO. TITLE THAT IS IN THE CONSIGNOR'S NAME AS ISSUED BY THE STATE OF MO. THE TITLE WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO SHERMAN AUTO SALES, INC. AND THEN THE SALE WILL BE COMPLETED BY OUR COMPANY.

*I FEEL THIS IS BEST DESCRIBED AS A DRIVER QUALITY CAR IF SOMEONE WANTED TO ENJOY IT THE WAY IT IS, OR WOULD BE A WONDERFUL CANDIDATE FOR RESTORATION.
*THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 292 V-8 ENGINE, WITH RARE 3-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, DEALER INSTALLED (COLD OPERATING) AIR CONDITIONING, BOTH H/TOP WITH ROLLING RACK & FOLDING SOFT TOP, POWER SEAT, FACTORY TACHOMETER, & WIRE WHEEL COVERS.
*I WILL NOW SHARE ALL INFORMATION THAT I HAVE FROM THE CONSIGNOR AND INFORMATION I HAVE PERSONALLY GATHERED IN DRIVING THIS CAR AND GOING THROUGH PAPER-WORK THAT WAS WITH THE CAR. THIS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO SEPARATE GROUPS THAT ARE NUMBERED 1-3 #1) CONDITION OF CAR WHEN PURCHASED BY MY CONSIGNOR #2) WORK PERFORMED BY THE CURRENT OWNER/CONSIGNOR PRIOR TO THIS LISTING #3) EVALUATION OF THIS VEHICLE BY SHERMAN AUTO SALES
#1). *THE PRIOR OWNER, BEFORE MY CONSIGNOR'S OWNERSHIP HAD OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 28 YEARS. THIS PERSON WAS A MO. RESIDENT. I HAVE A COPY OF THE PREVIOUS MO. TITLE THAT IS DATED 10/11/1988 AS THE PURCHASE DATE. THE TITLE WAS THEN PLACED IN A TRUST ON 10/4/2011 AND MO. TITLE WAS RE-ISSUED. (THIS IS ALL DOCUMENTED) THIS PRIOR OWNER WAS AN AVID COLLECTOR OF VINTAGE CARS AND MEMORABILIA THAT WERE JUST PLACED IN A BUILDING AND STORED AWAY.
*I HAVE A MO. SAFETY INSPECTION DATED 5/11/1989 WITH 54,800 MILES RECORDED. THIS ORIGINAL PERSON IS NOW IN A NURSING HOME.
*THE CAR HAD A COLOR CHANGE FROM THE ORIGINAL BLACK FACTORY COLOR TO A SOFT YELLOW. I FEEL THIS WAS DONE APPROX. 15-20+ YEARS AGO.
*THE BLACK AND WHITE INTERIOR ARE CORRECT ACCORDING TO THE DATA PLATE.
*THE THUNDERBIRD HAD PAINT ISSUES AND PRIOR RUST REPAIRS THAT WILL BE COVERED IN DETAIL IN SECTION #3.
*THE HARD TOP WAS ON THE CAR AT THIS TIME AND THE CONVERTIBLE TOP WAS FOLDED IN PLACE.
*THERE WAS A PART TICKET FROM THE ORIGINAL FAMILY THAT THE GAS TANK AND SENDING UNIT WERE REPLACED 7/24/2012.
*THERE WAS A PARTIAL SET OF NEW THUNDERBIRD WIRE WHEEL COVERS IN THE TRUNK. THE ORIGINAL PLAIN WHEEL COVERS WERE IN PLACE AT THIS TIME.
*THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED.
*TIRES HAD BEEN REPLACED, BUT WERE INSTALLED SEVERAL YEARS AGO.
*THE SALE OF THIS VEHICLE WAS COMPLETED TO MY CONSIGNOR ON 2/2/2016.

*2/20/2016 VEHICLE WAS FLAT-BEDDED TO REPAIR FACILITY. INSPECT BRAKE SYSTEM, NEW FRONT BRAKE HOSES, REPACK FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, WHEEL CYLINDERS. NEW BRAKES. NEW HORNS. $529.73 (OWNER OF CAR SUPPLIED SOME OF THE PARTS NEEDED).
*3/5/2016 INSTALLED HYDRAULIC LINES TO REAR OF VEHICLE. SCOPE ENGINE. INSTALLED PLUGS, WIRES, CAP, AND ROTOR. OTHER MISC. REPAIRS. $560.09

*8/2/2017 REPLACED BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, PROPERLY SERVICE A/C WITH R-12, INSTALLED COMPLETED SET OF WIRE WHEEL COVERS WITH NEW CLIPS $712.34
*8/29/2017 VEHICLE WAS PROFESSIONALLY DETAILED $200.00.
*VEHICLE IS NOW BEING REPRESENTED ON CONSIGNMENT FOR SALE BY SHERMAN AUTO SALES, INC..
#3). MY NAME IS MARK SHERMAN AND MY COMPANY IS REPRESENTING THIS VEHICLE FOR SALE. I HAVE TRIED TO SPEND PROPER TIME WITH THIS CAR IN THE EVALUATION. I FEEL THIS A VEHICLE THAT HAS GOOD MERIT DUE TO THE WAY IT IS EQUIPPED AND THE WAY IT RUNS.
THE COSMETIC PORTION & WORK STILL NEEDED WAS CONSIDERED AS THE OTHER ASPECT OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE MANNER IN WHICH A VALUE WAS ESTABLISHED.
THIS IS A VEHICLE THAT SHOULD BE SEEN AND VIEWED BY A PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMER OR APPRAISER. THIS IS A CAR THAT HAS GOOD POTENTIAL.
I HAVE PERSONALLY DRIVEN THIS CAR OVER 50 MILES AND WAS VERY SATISFIED TO REPRESENT THIS CAR FOR SALE. THE VEHICLE STARTS WELL WITH JUST PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS VERY PLEASED AFTER A 30 MINUTE HIGHWAY DRIVE TO THE CLEANUP SHOP ON A HOT DAY, THAT THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE.
I WOULD LIKE TO STATE SPEEDOMETER RECORDING THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR WAS WORKING PER THE CONSIGNOR OFF AND ON SINCE HE HAS HAD IT IN HIS POSSESSION. IT DID THE SAME FOR MYSELF DURING MY DRIVE. I FEEL THE ACTUAL MILEAGE MAY NOT BE THAT MUCH HIGHER THEN THE MILEAGE SHOWN. THE CONSIGNOR ORDERED NEW CABLES FOR BOTH THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER AND WERE PLACED N THE TRUNK FOR THE NEXT PURCHASER. THE TACHOMETER DOES NOT WORK
THE MOTOR SOUNDS VERY STRONG. THE CAR DOES NOT SMOKE. THE GEARS AND DIFFERENTIAL ARE QUIET. THE CAR WILL DRIP VERY SMALL SPOTS OF OIL WHEN SITTING IN MY BUILDING. (THIS IS MINIMAL). THE EXHAUST SYSTEM SOUNDS OK, BUT DOES HAVE RUST AND HOLES IN THE SYSTEM. FULL REPLACEMENT OF THE EXHAUST DUE TO AGE WILL BE NEEDED. THE TIRES LOOK GOOD, BUT DO HAVE HARD SPOTS FROM SITTING. THEY DO IMPROVE AS YOU DRIVE THE CAR. YOU CAN FEEL THE HARDNESS AND BOUNCE OF THE TIRES WHEN DRIVING. THE STEERING FEELS VERY SOUND AND DOES NOT HAVE PLAY. THE POWER SEAT DOES MOVE FORWARD AND BACK, BUT THE UP AND DOWN POSITION DOES NOT OPERATE. THE A/C IS COLD. (THIS WAS SERVICED WITH R-12) THE RADIO PLAYS, BUT IS AN AFTERMARKET RADIO. ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS DO WORK PROPERLY. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TELL IF THE DASH LIGHTS WERE WORKING IN MY BUILDING. THE HORN, WIPERS, AND HEATER BLOWER MOTOR OPERATE PROPERLY. THERE IS MINIMAL CRAZING ON THE PLASTIC SURFACE ON THE SPEEDOMETER FACE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HOLDS PROPERLY. THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCKED WITH THE KEY. THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK DID NOT OPERATE WITH THE KEY. THE WINDSHIELD GLASS DOES HAVE WIPER RUB MARKS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND THE PASSENGER EDGE. (THIS IS MINIMAL) THE OWNER HAD ORDERED NEW RUBBER FLOOR MATS THAT ARE STILL WRAPPED AND WERE PLACED IN THE TRUNK FOR THE PURCHASER. THE ORIGINAL 5 FORD PLAIN HUBCAPS ARE ALSO IN THE TRUNK. THE BLACK H/TOP THAT IS INCLUDED IS STILL AT THE OWNERS BUILDING. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES THAT WERE SENT TO ME BY THE OWNER.
*THE PAINT AND BODY ISSUES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
*I HAVE PERSONALLY SHOWN THIS CAR TO TWO PROFESSIONAL BODY PEOPLE AND THEY FEEL THAT THIS WAS RE-PAINTED IN LACQUER. THE PAINT HAS REACTED SHOWING A CRAZED AND LIFTED EFFECT. (THIS WILL SHOW IN THE PHOTOS, BUT DUE TO THE LIGHT YELLOW COLOR IT WAS HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH). THIS ALMOST LOOKS LIKE THE TOP SURFACE HAS WATER STILL SITTING ON THE PAINT. THIS COVERS THE ENTIRE CAR, IT IS MODERATE ON THE UPPER SECTIONS AND THEN SHOWS MUCH MORE CRINKLING IN THE LOWER SECTIONS. THEY BOTH FELT THIS HAPPENED OVER A PERIOD OF TIME AND MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED FROM THE DRYING OF THE LACQUER IN AN AREA THAT WAS NOT PROPER IN TEMPERATURE CONTROL & CONDITION OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME. THEY ALSO COMMENTED THAT THIS CAR MAY HAVE BEEN PAINTED IN ENAMEL AT ONE TIME AND THE SLOW DRYING LACQUER CAUSED A PAINT REACTION. THIS FINISH COVERS THE MAJORITY OF THE CAR. IN REPEATING MYSELF, THE TOP SECTIONS SHOW BETTER, THEN THE LOWER SECTIONS.
*THERE ARE AREA SPOT CRACKS THAT SHOW PLASTIC REPAIR. THE ROCKER PANEL AREAS AND REAR QUARTER SECTIONS HAVE HAD PATCH PANEL REPAIRS. THIS WAS "NOT" DONE TO PROPER STANDARDS. THE FLOOR AREA ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE UNDER THE RUG, SHOWS PLASTIC REPAIR THAT IS CRACKING. BOTH THE DRIVER SECTION FLOOR AREA AND PASSENGER SIDE FEET AREA HAVE BEEN METAL PATCHED. UNDER THE CAR, YOU CAN SEE WHERE SOME OF THE FLOOR SUPPORTS HAVE ALSO BEEN REPLACED IN A VERY AVERAGE TO POOR MANNER.
*PLEASE NOTE:THE TRUNK AREA, BEHIND THE SEAT, AND UNDER THE HOOD AREA APPEAR TO BE VERY SOLID. THE "X" FRAME IS VERY HEAVY AND SOLID. THERE IS "SURFACE RUST ONLY" ON THE FRAME AND UNDER-CARRIAGE.

I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION THAT A HALF SECTION OF THE HOOD SCOOP WAS WET SANDED AND BUFFED AND DID IMPROVE CONSIDERABLY IN THE OVER-ALL APPEARANCE. THE PERSON THAT DID THIS SMALL AREA SAID THE PAINT SURFACE WAS ROCK HARD AND WOULD TAKE A PROFESSIONAL MANY HOURS TO SAND & BUFF THIS PROPERLY. THIS WOULD TAKE CARE OF MORE THEN 50% OF THE BODY. THE LOWER SECTIONS ARE WORSE AND WOULD REQUIRE PAINTING.
*THERE ARE OTHER SMALL IMPERFECTIONS IN TRIM AND DETAIL. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES THAT ALL HAVE THE ZOOM OPTION, I WOULD BE PLEASED TO TAKE ANY ADDITIONAL PICTURES THAT ARE REQUESTED FOR A SINCERE BUYER. E-BAY ONLY ALLOWS 24 PICTURES USING THERE PROGRAM.
