Car description

She is a 1949 Ford Custom 4 door sedan. Original running 239 ford flathead V8 engine. 3 speed manual shift on the column transmission with overdrive. Overdrive is there but not hooked up. I was planning on making it manual engaged. Runs, drives, shifts, steersand stops. Buy it now and drive it a little before winter. Then work on and make it yours over the winter.

This car has had the brakes replaced and bled and work as designed. The wheel bearings and seals have been replaced. The gas tank has been removed and cleaned. The main fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump has been replaced. The fuel pump has been replaced with a electric universal fuel pump. The carburetor has been replaced with a rebuilt unit by a ford flathead specialist. The choke cable has been replaced. the headlight switch and starter button have been replaced. The complete wire harness for the car has been replaced with a 12 volt modern streetwise wiring kit and turn signals have been addedand bulbs have been replaced. The generator was replaced with a gm 1 wire alternator. The thermostats, housings and upper radiator hoseshave been replaced. The spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, points and condenser has been replaced. The coolant temp sensors have been replaced and there are now 2 new temp gauges. One for each cylinder head since this engine has a separate water pump for each head. The engine runs well and at the correct temp. The transmission oil has been changed. The transmission shifts well and operates as designed. The tail shaft seal on the transmission drips though. The car has very loud air horns installed. Seriously, they are loud. The stock horn button location is there and wire tied to the steering wheel. the working horn button is hidden between the temp gauges. The whitewalls are bias ply. There is new tie rod ends I haven't installed yet. The king pins need to be replaced. The vehicle will shake at certain speeds approximately 30-40 mph. The speedometer is inoperative. The door panels have been removed and the window regulators and handles have been lubricated and the door panels replaced with wood stained and urethaned. The rear speaker shelf has been replaced in wood also and 2 6x9s installed for the new JVC Bluetooth stereo installed in the glovebox. The original radio is in place and not hooked up. There is no headliner or carpets. The front seat is original with a vintage black vinyl cover installed many years ago. The black cover has no tears. The rear seat is original and very ratty. The Mexican blanket makes it able to be used.

The body is solid with some rust on the upper rear passenger quarter. The rockers look to have been replaced at some point and are fairly solid with surface rust. The frame is very solid with no holes. The underside is in surprisingly solid condition for having lived in new England. I would say it hasn't been driven in the salt. I know I haven't. The front hood has a kink near the passenger hinge. The front floors have been patched and could be redone. The trunk floor is extremely solid and good looking. The door mirrors have holes from the original location. They need to be plugged somehow. I park the car in a storage unit so it hasn't been a issue for me. The rear wheel opening lips are rusty and will need attention. I have included pictures of all areas for you to see for yourself. Please review carefully and feel free to ask questions. I drive the car locally to my kids sport events, stores, out for ice cream etc. It is a very solid running and driving 68 year old early production ford shoebox. Far from perfect but it is a perfect base to tinker with. Highest Bidder wins. Don't let her get away!
