Car description

NOTE: If you are interested in bidding on this vehicle and have 15 or less feedback, you need to contact me first, if not, then your bid will be retracted/cancelled.

Up for bidding is an original 1991 Ford LTD/Crown vic police package vehicle with the 5.0 EFI motor. This is the last year of the square body style.

HISTORY OF VEHICLE:

Thecar was originally ordered new from the Santa Clara County(San Jose), Fleet Maintenance Division and assigned to Dept 3800, the District Attorney's Office. The vehicle was used by a DA investigator assigned to the Welfare/Fraud unit per Fleet maintenance records. This vehicle was a CODE 3 equipped unmarked unit w/no holes drilled into the body. The only emergency equipment used was a Unitrol siren, a Whelen Flatlighter positioned on the passenger side sunvisor and Kenwood floor mounted radio control-head, speaker and mic. I do not have the siren or the Whelen light, but the radio equipment will be added to the sale of the vehicle. The original vehicle # sticker of91011 is still present on the lower drivers side area of the front windshield, as is the Fleet maintenance service schedule sticker. I have the original paperwork form fleet.

The vehicle was in service up until around2002 and then placed in the CODE 3 vehicle motor pool and used only as a back-up unit until 2006. In October of that year the vehicle was sentto public auctionwith approximately 70,780 miles.

The second owner who purchased the vehicle, used it as a daily driver for about 10.5 years up until April of this year when I purchased. Second owner said he averaged only about 5k per year(52K while owned). The odometer stopped working at 121,514. Based on mileage, dates and the broken odometer, actual mileage should be around 123k give or take.

THE GOOD:

The car runs very well, shifts and stops. There are no overheating issues as I drove the car home, about 60 miles. Interior still in decent shape w/a new headliner, sunvisors and rear interior sail panels. The tires are good with even wear and are the correct size for the vehicle, 225/70/15. All power options work as this is a loaded unit including carpet and not a rubber floor mat. Motor was recently steam cleaned (top only), fresh oil/filter, body is basically strait w/some minor dings and creases with minimal surface rust. Have an extra set of hubcaps and taillights. Radiator is about 4.5 years old and all lights andgauges work as well. Speedo also works but shows about 10 MPH off actual speed.

THE BAD;

Car as you can see needs paint and minor body-work. Still retains the original color of medium Alabaster, Code Al. Dash has a crack in the middle. I placed a strip of vinyl to help cover the crack. Carpets are original but there is a hole below the foot pedal. Front windshield has a bullseye on the passenger side and all other glass is good. The overdrive went out per the second owner but you can stillattain freeway speeds. There are a few oil leaks, had the front-end checked by my main mechanic and he said basic normal wear and tear and nothing major.

My plans were to re-equip the car with the original CODE 3 equipment and show at several car events thru out the year. Plans change real quick when people who claimed they would take care of the vehicle install per my specs back out. Well, this isn't going to happen. Too many excuses and BS and I don't need it. This is the only reason I'm selling. I'm tired of all the phonies out there who think their important and are actually worthless. Enough said. I'm sure there is someone out there who either drove this style with an agency as many used this model, to be replicated back to an agency of choice.

With a quality paint job, this unit will look fine whether kept unmarked or marked. If the vehicle doesn't sell, then I will use it sparingly in it's present condition. It is a daily driver.

A very low Reserve has been placed on the vehicle, based on overall condition. The car has a clean California title and is registered thru November of this year. The car was smogged per Calif. guidelines in April of this year. Any questions you can either e-mail or call (408)448-1717.

I accept paypal for a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 and must be received W/I 24- hours at the close of auction. Balance can be made W/cash in person. A cashiers check and/or Money Order. Winning bidder is responsible for their own transport or shipping
