1969 Ford F-250 Ranger Camper Special- Drive as is or restore -- Factory power steering and front disc brakes! -
re-listing, previous bidder had a family emergency
--Sold as-is, daily driver--
This old F-250 Camper Special was owned by a local Idaho Farm. It has been used regularly since new. This is a classic example of an old used farm truck.
Daily driver. Everything functions, with the exception of the speedometer. Gas gauge is aftermarket. Turn signals tend to have a mind of their own!
Outside of minor tuning and oil change, we really haven't done anything with this one. We've driven it about 200 miles, it handles the road nicely. Actual mileage is unknown. She's no powerhouse, just a used old pickup, just the way you might expect to find here in the farm country of Southern Idaho.
Originally equipped with a C-6 Automatic, the previous owner put in a T-18 4-speed manual transmission. Still retains automatic steering column if someone wanted to re-vert. The T-18 was Ford's standard duty transmission with granny low, and then 2-3-4 synchronized and reverse up and over to the right. A little slop between 2nd and 3rd, as is common to these transmissions. Not any deal-breaker. Is reliable. I'm willing to include a good solid used T-18 replacement, as an extra, for $100 over high bid.
She needs some loving. Here's the immediate needs;Windshield is cracked. Small rust holes in the rear corners of each door. Speedometer not working.Front cab mounts have some rust starting. I include photos of all the bad areas!
In the future? Fresh lungs someday would be nice. I'd rather you decide which direction to take this old pickup. She'll go anywhere but down in value. Restore? Use as is? Build a sleeper? Put the body on a big 4x4? The opportunities are endless. But regardless she won't disappoint at this price.
Photos will show you very clearly the condition of this truck. I've taken images of the worst areas for your close inspection. Some small rust issues in the doors as mentioned. A few little pin-holes under the cab, and on front cab mounts, also shown in photos. That's the worst of it. Overall pretty dang solid! Seat is original, but tore up. Bed is solid. Floors solid. Everything in the running gear works.
Maybe you want us to take this truck in a different direction for you? Ask about options!
Starts nice when cold, Runs a bit rich. The carb is an Auto-lite 2100 2v with 1.33 venturi size. Probably a bit rich for the old 390. I don't think the carb is original to the truck. Choke cable is farm-rigged!
Drives nice and straight. Steering is tight. Brakes work good. I'd not hesitate to take this truck on a cruise 300-400 miles. 16" steel wheels. Tires about 30%. 235/85/16 10ply.
Has dual tanks. I haven't tried operating on the Aux. tank. Approximate 44 gallon total capacity.
Hubcaps not included - sorry they went toward another project..
