Car description |
---|
Up for auction is a 1977 Ford LTD Landau. It has 99,000 miles on it. This is a one-owner car, out of Reno, Nevada. It runs and drives beautifully. Almost like new! The car is in remarkable condition for its age. It has been garage kept since day one. I have the title in hand.
BODY: looks like it had a repaint, probably within the last few years. But it is the original color of a sort of baby blue. They did a beautiful job. Absolutely no rust, or dents Etc.The front bumper, driver side has a cracked piece of black trim. The Landau badge on the passenger side roof, is missing the insert. And there is a small piece of this white side molding on the passenger side, missing. Please see the photos. Weatherstripping for side windows, on both driver and passenger side doors, has cracked from the dry Nevada climate. But otherwise, the body of the car looks terrific!
INTERIOR: since the car was garage kept its whole life the interior shows no signs of fading. There are no rips in the seats. The carpet is in terrific condition. The dash and the dash pad are absolutely mint. The only issue with the interior, is the driver interior door panel. Looks like it cracked at one point and the owner put some sort of glue on. Replacing that panel would be the only way to fix it. The original radio was replaced at one point, with an Alpine CD player. That's the only modern upgrade to the car. It works great and sounds awesome. That's with original speakers! Everything on the inside works. But the air conditioning is intermittent. It probably needs a recharge.
TRUNK: The spare tire appears to be original, with some miles on it. The jack and jack parts are there.
ENGINE: 400 cu in 2 bbl. It is not the original motor, but the good news is, that it was replaced within the last few years, according to the daughter of the original owner. So on that note, it runs excellent. For a late 70s V8, it definitely has a lot of torque. I changed the oil, pulled the plugs out and replace them. The old plugs showed no signs of burnt oil. But I replaced the plugs anyway. I replaced the cap and rotor as well. Coolant level never changes. Looks like the radiator was rebuilt or replaced as well. Hoses, heater hoses etc., were replaced. I also replaced the high-pressure power steering hose, as it was leaking. All of the air conditioning lines are really in beautiful condition. I would definitely trust the vehicle to drive anywhere.
TRANSMISSION and AXLE: The transmission shifts and works as it should. Transmission oil smells as it should and it is bright red. As expected, it has a pretty high gear ratio. Since the car drives so quietly, I hear no noise coming from the rear end. I did notice that the yoke seal is leaking.
BRAKES/SUSPENSION: The car stops as it should. I pulled the wheels off and looked at the front pads and rear shoes. Everything looks good. And axle seals are good as well. The steering linkage is a lubed and tight. The car drives straight line. No shimmy or issues with the suspension. The car drives as you woul The car drives as you would expect a large boat size vehicle from the 70s. It floats down the road and is very it floats down the road and is very smooth. The original owner replaced the shocks with KYB shocks, and the tires are new Michelin's. They are 15 inch and the original hubcaps are all there. The buyer is responsible for shipping the vehicle. A $700 deposit is required, immediately following the auction. As I mentioned before, I have the title in hand. It was signed over to me, following an estate that I cleared out. Any questions, please feel free to ask.
