Stk. 2286 1950 Ford Custom Sedan There was a sense of urgency for the big three automakers to get cars to market after WWII. Ford won the battle when they introduced the Ford Custom in the fall of 1948 a full six months before Chevy and Chrysler reached the marketplace. The car was dubbed "the shoebox Ford" by some because of its relatively flat body sides. It was by far the most modern looking vehicle produced in that era because it boasted no fender protrusions. This 1950 Ford Custom Sedan has been the recipient of a partial restoration. The body has a new coat of black (2016) that appears to be a one-stage enamel finish. It will require some additional handwork to bring out its best appearance. The interior has been nicely restored in period correct cloth upholstery with a dashboard and steering wheel that are classic '50's Ford. It is powered by a flathead Ford V8 that our owner believes to have never been rebuilt. A column shifter handles the 3-speed manual gearbox and 4-wheel hydraulic drums manage braking. This is a classic Blue-Oval that has had a lot of restoration work completed. It is a good driver now but could be much more with some additional effort.
