Re: 1970 Ford 429 Cobra Jet Engine Doing some more research shows that there were D1VE blocks that were set up for CJ (I don't know about SCJ) and that have 4-bolt mains. I have yet to find out about any specific casting numbers and it appears that the only way to really tell is to drop the oil pan and look. I have the number of the machine shop that did the refresh (though that was two years ago so it will probably need a bit of re-refreshinging) so I am going to call them and see if they have any records about the engine (and maybe what heads are on it) and if they know if this was one of the rare D1VE 4 bolts.
we just acquired this barn find for re-sale.
the car is very nice over all with some rust ect as to be expected - small soft ball size cancer on floor panel / tunnel areas - nothing major and no rust thru on the frame anywhere that would be a major problem we can see. the frame looks better than most we have seen. 1 header is squished from some hot dogging so the headers are trash.
This is a project car - we have not tried to start the ca, engine is free and rolls over with 12 volts directly to starter.
there is a 429 big block in the car with automatic transmission that is hooked up and will go in park and neutral, brakes at this point are not working at all . we do have keys and steering wheel lock is working. broken windshield

Aug-04-17 A: there are two sides to every story - the truth and the lies - 1st off this total loser on Facebook never even looked at the motor or casting #s or anything to do with the drive-train. he also never even got on the ground to look under the ca, how do you inspect the frame and underbody of a car while standing up ? he is just a wanna be muscle car something i am guessing- the actual money man or buyer of the car never even came to see the car at all. he sends face book farce TIM TALCOTE with zero experience in muscle cars or restorations of any kind who spend 5 minutes looking at the hood of the car cutting it up when part of his money mans negotiating skills was aimed at how they need to spend 2 k to get an original hood and shaker before we ever made the deal, so - if you originally then get $3500 off the car for things that need to be replace, why would those have any affect on the car when timy boy shows up ? these are a bunch of armatures who screwed themselves by acting like a bunch of amateur children who continue to act like children instead of adult business men .this is a 17 year old business that tom talocte lies are not going to affect. the car is here and they are still welcome to pick it up at any time as long as they pay the balance that they owe on the offer that THEY MADE in a binding contract here on ebay. ALSO once again the car is available to be seen at any time by any bidder its up in the air on jack stands - the starter is off to view the block # s .there is a phone # and address listed in the ebay auction. the car is far from perfect but it is all there and more for restoration, like really folks look at the photos any one that knows anything about this field can see how solid this car is if you have the expertise for restoration, thanks for the heads up !
