Car description

Ford fans, we know that you see a lot of Chevelles out there, but we hope this pretty 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 convertible at least makes up for some of it. A handsome mid-sized ragtop, it offers 390 V8 power, room for six in the stylish interior, and it remains a car that you won't see at every cruise night and car show.Ford's Galaxie had sporting lines that cleverly hid its XL size, and this bright red ragtop certainly looks racy from any angle. Despite the affordable price, this is a very nice car in which someone has invested heavily, starting with a recent repaint in the original code T Candyapple Red. It was clearly a quality job, because it's holding up remarkably well with only a few signs of use and a fantastic shine that highlights the sweeping fender lines. Having lived all its life in a warm climate, you know the bones underneath are good and the way the doors fit is reassuring in a big ragtop like this. It's not a show car, but you already knew that, and besides, show cars aren't any fun, so you can grab your friends or family and hit the road without worries. Better still, all the chrome and stainless trim is in great shape, showing some signs of age but nothing major, and it lends the big Galaxie a very ornate look. There's got to be a lot of recent work inside because the black interior is in fantastic condition. The upholstery is a handsome vinyl with simple pleats and ornate inserts, with newer black carpets that are plush enough to seriously dampen noise and heat. We believe the door panels are original and there's a bit of fading on the driver's side where someone's arm has been resting, but it's so nice you wouldn't even consider replacing it. The gauges are in good order and you'll be happy to note that this car sports fully functional factory A/C, so cruising is never uncomfortable in this big ragtop. There's room for six thanks to wide, comfortable bench seats front and rear and nobody will complain about the lack of leg room because this is a big car in every sense of the word. The original AM radio is still in the dash and could stand to be upgraded and there's a recent black power top sealing things up. The trunk is truly massive and includes a full-sized spare tire. The Z-code 390 cubic inch V8 is the car's original engine and makes loads of torque so the Galaxie feels light on its feet. The engine bay is very nicely detailed, complete with bright Ford Blue on the engine and air cleaner, and the overall condition suggests that it's been expertly maintained over the years. The A/C compressor dominates the view, but underneath you'll find power steering and power brakes and a heavy-duty C6 3-speed automatic transmission, so this ragtop feels luxurious on the road. There are no major upgrades or notable modifications, and it exhales through a dual exhaust system that has a pleasant, soft burble. If the door tag is to be believed, there are 3.89 gears out back that suggest someone wanted a fast ragtop, and with the torquey 390, it is indeed quick off the line. The red paint advertises a bit, as do the flashy Cragar mags wearing recent 225/70/15 blackwall radials. There's a lot to like in this big Ford ragtop and the affordable price makes it an awesome entry-level hobby car with a lot of performance and style.
