HISTORY...Ford was working very hard to make the Galaxie "First On Race Day". The Galaxie "sports hardtop" fastback was the first of Ford's famed "1/2 year" model introductions - followed by the 1964-1/2 Mustang and the 1968-1/2 Continental Mark III. In this XL's case, it was the aerodynamic race advantages of a fastback body that inspired the half-year Galaxie surprise introduction. Along with the new fastback roofline, Ford replaced its 406cid racing engine with a 427cid mill. This engine was available on production cars as the "R-code" option with two 4-bbl carbs, and was rated at 425 HP. This is a genuine R-code car - as verified by the VIN. Furthermore, it is a factory-equipped 4-speed manual car. In all, it is one of the most desirable Ford racing-inspired production classics of all time. LOCATION: Acwoth, GA...approx. 33 miles northwest of Atlanta EXCELLENT INVESTMENT - the best cars of the 1950s have been "Blue Chip" investments for decades, and will continue to be. This 1963 1/2 R-Code Galaxie 500XL is now a 1960s "Blue Chip". The explosion of popularity and demand for the best 1960s classics - in some cases - has now made them more valuable than their 1950s counterparts! THE FIRST 12 PICTURES will give you a general overview of the Galaxie 500XL, but if you are seriously interested...we suggest that you look at ALL 100+ images because we want you to see EVERYTHING. The CLOSER you LOOK, the more impressed you will be with this car.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING...TO SEE ALL THE IMAGES: There are over 100 images that will show the car in great detail. BUT, to see ALL of the images, you MUST place your cursor DIRECTLY ON an image...and then scroll gently ALL the way to the bottom (be sure to allow time for all the images to load). CAUTION: If you use the scroll bar to the FAR right of your screen - OR, the "Click to View Image Album" feature - you will NOT be able to see all the images! Over 2,800 TRANSACTIONS WITH HAPPY PEOPLE! As of the date of this listing, we've had over 2,800 transactions (both Buying AND Selling) on eBay without a single complaint. One of the keys to our success is to show LARGER and MORE images than almost any other eBay listing...so you can CLEARLY see what you are getting. We also give a very detailed description of the car...not just a couple sentences like many listings. QUESTIONS?...after reviewing ALL the images and reading the entire description, please call Jim Murphy if you have any questions: 706-429-7924 OPERATIONAL REPORT: Our photo-session test ride was impressive...the body and ride was as solid as the famed "world class" Lincolns of the era with a very TIGHT & QUIET cabin. The only non-operational item we found was the clock...and - quite frankly - these didn't work too long after they were new. YouTube VIDEO: We have posted a very brief video on YouTube (Search: Exquisite Frame-off Restored 1963-1/2 Ford Galaxie)
ODOMETER NOTE...the 41,577 reading could be original but is unverifiable. However, due to the fact that the entire car was completely dis-assembled and rebuilt, the odometer reading is really moot. The objective has been to make the car as-new or better in every respect. PAYMENT DETAILS: Payment is due within 2-business days of auction's end via Bank to Bank wire transfer. The vehicle will be released to the Buyer immediately upon - but not before - FULL bank clearance of payment. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS are welcome, but MUST adhere to the SAME Payment Terms detailed above and also make all arrangements for the pick-up and importation of the Vehicle into the Buyer's country. We will store the car free of charge for a reasonable period of time while transportation and shipment of the Vehicle is arranged. ABOUT ME: I am an avid Classic Car enthusiast. After retiring from 30 years of Sales & Marketing in a Global 100 company, I began buying and selling Classic Cars and Collectibles as a collector and for friends and clients. This 1963-1/2 Galaxie XL belongs to a friend's family member. Please Note: as of this date, we have had over 2,800 eBay transactions with 100% Positive Feedback...this includes the sale of many Classic Cars to Buyers all over the world, including Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Australia, Russia, Canada, Japan and throughout the United States. IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS: A Notarized Bill of Sale and the Vehicle Registration will be provided to the Buyer. NOTE: the State of Georgia does not require titles for cars of this vintage, so the registration card has a "Non-Title" notation and also serves as the owners legal proof of ownership. Rest assured that every state must respect all other states' motor vehicle laws, and that the car can be successfully registered and insured in any state. SPECIAL NOTE: This car's owner willed the car to his wife, who is in the process of registering the car in her name for sale.
This Vehicle is sold strictly as-shown and on a final as-is basis without any warranties expressed or implied due to age. Even the very best restored classics - such as this one - will require additional maintenance and service - often without warning. We have presented the car accurately to the best of our ability, but oversights are possible. Therefore - BEFORE the auction's end - bidders are welcome to examine the vehicle in person. All sales are final. Please be sure to review ALL the images and ALL the captions because they relate important information too!
