Car description

Offered here is "Moon Dog", my beloved little Ford f100. With sadness, I must offer him up as I need to start liquidating some things. Moon Dog is my 1953 Ford f100 pickup truck that was re-created to be an old western Flying A Service Truck. He is a 99% rust-free f100 body that possesses glass front fenders and rear roll pan. He has a boxed frame with a 4-link rear suspension tied into a large 8.8 Ford 10 bolt rear end supported by rear coil-over shocks. He borrowed his steering components with courtesy from the whole sub-frame ofa 1969 Camaro, complete with disc brakes, and then2"drop spindles were added. He probably has over 400 h.p. coming from his heart, a 1969 Chevy 350, all rebuilt with headers. Thispower core is coupled to a freshTurbo 400 transmission that was rebuilt at the same time the engine was done and both have around 6000 miles on them. The interior is fresh with buckets, new door panels, CD player, power windows, power drivers seat, tilt wheel, and all new tinted glass. The door handles are shavedand he has door poppers with internal and external buttons. He hasmanual steering, but with the addition of a barney steering wheel knob, he steers easy likepoor-man power steering. He is also heater and wiper delete, but they could be very easily added. It has all new Dolphin gauges and all work. The speedometer appears to be around 10mph too slow. He is on a newer set of Coker whitewall radials, much meatier in the rear.He has even more room for larger rear tires as hehas beennicelytubbed.Mechanically speaking, this truck runs excellent. No oil burning, good oil pressure and drives straight. Moon Dog can stop on a dime with it's power brakes. It's temperature runs at around 185 degrees without the help of any electric fans. If stuck in traffic it will creep up some but 200 degrees is as warm as it has went. Moon Dog has a very mean sound and to hear it, you know it isn't yourdad's small block. If burnouts are your thing, he will easily wear your tires out.He is very fast and cruises nice at 65-70.Moon Doghas all new wiring and has push button starting on dash. The wood bed is real red oak with natural patina. It is equipped with a vintagemounted 7up cooler that serves as a battery box in the truckbed along with a vintage tool box that sets in the front of the bed also as shown in the pictures. Moon Dog will drive anywhere at anytime. You can cruise all day long with no surprises. Whether you want a cruiser, a shop truck, or a pit crew truck, this will get her done. All lines and hoses are also new. The hood ornament is compliments of a 1950 Desoto, and has the rare translucent plastic face. The ornament fits like it was made for him. So much money was investedto get him to his condition, but I love a dependable truck when I go. The nice thing is most folks think he is an original barn find. He turns the heads and so many thumbs up. The Patina and paint were embellished a little but so tastefully that it even fools the discriminating eye. Many hours were spent to achieve it's original look. The nice thing is that it has a very nice solid body also. Moon Dog is equipped with a hidden battery kill switch also. I havemany more pictures if there is something you would like to see as I was only allowed 24 to pick from. I tried to show a little of everything so you could get an idea of what "Moon Dog" really is.I didn't show pictures of the complete seats, but they are very nice and are free of rips or tears.. I have many more pics of interior if needed. The Emblems and name were hand painted and embellished to an original period correct look. If they are not your thing, I can easily exclude them. The roof and fender marker lights are vintage with new wiring and bulbs, and could also be easily removed. However, they make the "Moon Dog" who he is.I'm sure I have left some things out about him.
