Car description

You might expect a Model T that served as a fire truckto have low miles. This certainly appears to be the case with this one. It is equipped with a chemical apparatus made by the Northern Fire Apparatus Company of Minneapolis. It also has additional fire extinguishers with special holders and a variety of storage tanks for the chemicals used to put out fires. Originally owned by the Little Falls, MN fire department. It was in storage in southern Minnesotafrom 1993 until this month. It starts by the crank easily and idles very smoothly. The transmission operates well but will require new band linings and general service. Belts, hoses etc. all require attention as well. It is authentic to 1917 in every detail, right down to the unusual shackles used during this era and rarely seen today. The muffler has gone missing and the radiator is a well made aftermarket replacementfrom the period. This model t is solid throughout and does not require majorwood replacement as so many do. The fenders have some extra holes on one side of the car, probably from a ladder carrier that has since been discarded.Tie rod and wishbone need some minor straightening. This historic vehicle has a wonderful patina and could serve well as-is with some mechanical refresh. It also would be a stunning piece restored due to all the copper, brass and nickel it is equipped with. The hand siren sounds wonderful and the bell is charming as well. Engine number and casting date on engine are consistent with the rest of the car and the presence of the engine splash pans and carburetor stove suggest that it may never have been out of the car. Even the rare retainer for the top assembly is still in place on the back seat. Bid with confidence: this is a real 100 year old fire truck and not a later re-creation. Buyer responsible for pickup. Contact me at mcam@hughes.net with any questions you may have. I wish I could keep this, but six model T's is already too many. I stand ready to help with any advice you need to make this model t behave the way it should. Be ready to have more fun than you could imagine with this rare survivor. The perfect fourth of July celebration machine!
