For sale: 1977 Mustang II Ghia (with “Sport” option) – Tan with black half vinyl top
First off, thank you for looking at this wonderful piece of Mustang history.
I am the third owner car of this car.
This little jewel is identical to the car beautiful “Angel” Jaclyn Smith drove in the 1970s hit TV show “Charlie’s Angels”. It has a 302 V8, automatic transmission, leather wrapped steering wheel, fold down rear seat (rare on a coupe so long ago), front and rear bumper guards, color keyed dual racing mirrors, rocker panel moldings, and the Ghia Sport option. The Sport option included Tan paint, color keyed lacey spoke aluminum wheels, contrasting black body side moldings to match the black vinyl top, contrasting pinstripes, a center console, full length door armrests with integral door pulls, engine turned black appliques on the doors and instrument panel, and a factory trunk mounted luggage rack car. The Ghia Sport was also available for 1978, but the luggage rack was no longer available, making the 1977 Ghia Sport the only Mustang II with a standard luggage rack.
The car was presented to me as all original, but the paint still shines like a new penny. The interior is all original and has been wonderfully taken care of for the last 40 years. All of the gauges work perfectly. It has new tires, a new transmission and a rebuilt engine, which is bored over .30, a 4 barrel manifold and a 4 barrel carburetor, so this pony has some real get up and go when you give it the spurs.
However, the aftermarket radio has not worked since I bought it and I never had the time to have a new one installed. The original vinyl top will have to be replaced as there is a tear on the top that was repaired before I bought it. There are two small dents: one on the driver’s door right on the body side molding and the other one is smaller on the chrome molding over the passenger side rear wheel well. I do have a replacement NOS door molding, which will be in the trunk of the car
This Ghia Sport was chosen by the original Mustang II designers as favorite 1977 model at the big Mustang II reunion held at Ford World Headquarters in August of last year (2016).
Again, this is a mostly original, unrestored car from 1977, so it will have its own idiosyncrasies, just like any old car has. I’ve owned several old cars and each one has its own personality. It’s a wonderful little car that turns heads and gets tons of compliments. I just don’t want anyone to think this is a 40 year old “new car”, which is what a fully restored car would feel like.
I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.Current mileage is 55,476 but will be higher as I do drive the car to keep all of the fluids flowing.
