This car is a perfect example of one of Henry Ford's best-known comments, "Any customer can have a car painted any color that he wants so long as it is black." MotoeXotica Classic Cars is proud to offer this restored 1925 Ford Model T Runabout that is of course finished in stunning black exterior. This little Model T Runabout is such a lovely jewel piece!
Its paint and trim are in nearly excellent condition thanks to a full professional restoration and the car still retains its steel body and fenders. The windshield, which is horizontally split, is in very good order. The car's lights are in good shape, as are the cowl lights, which are shaped like a pair of lanterns. The black wooden spoke wheels with Ford center caps look very good while the Goodyear whitewall tires, size 4.50-21 at all four corners, are in good order. All of the body panels are in great shape, solid and straight. The roadster's black folding roof glistens in the light. The engine bay is in good shape and the front bumper looks excellent. The running boards are in excellent condition.
Inside, the black bench seat is excellent while the floor beneath the driver and passenger has a black rubberized floor mat. The black instrument panel looks fantastic while the four-spoke black steering wheel is in very good order. The inner door panels and shift lever are in good shape.
Under the small hood is a 177 CID inline four-cylinder engine, with a two-speed planetary transmission. The Model T's transmission was controlled with three foot pedals and a lever that was mounted to the road side of the driver's seat. The throttle was controlled with a lever on the steering wheel. The left pedal was used to engage the gear. With the floor lever in either the mid position or fully forward and the pedal pressed and held forward the car entered low gear. When held in an intermediate position the car was in neutral. If the left pedal was released, the Model T entered high gear, but only when the lever was fully forward - in any other position the pedal would only move up as far as the central neutral position. This allowed the car to be held in neutral while the driver cranked the engine by hand. The car could thus cruise without the driver having to press any of the pedals. There was no separate clutch pedal.
When the car was in neutral, the middle pedal was used to engage reverse gear, and the right pedal operated the transmission brake - there were no separate brakes on the wheels. The floor lever also controlled the parking brake, which was activated by pulling the lever all the way back. This doubled as an emergency brake.
Body changes to the 1923 Tin Lizzie included the taper of the hood was increased and the rear section at the firewall is about an inch taller and several inches wider than the previous design.
Competition to this Ford in 1925 included Chevrolet's Superior Series K Roadster, Oakland's Sport Roadster and Dodge's Sports Roadster.
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
