1949Ford F3 (F68)Pickup Truck, inamazing shape with original Flathead V8. This truckhas never been restored, has covered only 30,000 miles and runs and drives. Clear California Title. Can help to arrange to ship anywhere for buyer. Selling with No Reserve to the highest bidder.
This 49 Ford was bought new by the Canadian Military hence why it is badged as an F68 and not an F3. Canadian F3's were badged F68 from 48-50 because of the 6,800lb gross vehicle weight. It was then bought by a farmer and installed with a hydraulic PTO hoist as many farm trucks of this era were. The hoist still functions. This is why the bed sits a little high and back as can be seen in the photos but you could remove the hoist if desired and re-mount the bed in the correct position. It saw very little use as is evident by the remarkable original condition and has only covered 30,000 miles from new.
It still wears its original paint, well what the sun hasn't baked off. The only rust in the whole truck is a tiny little bit in the front fenders where 48-52 Ford's usually rust but it is very minor. Otherwise this truck is completely rust free. There are very few dents which is unheard of on an original unrestored truck of this age, the fenders arein excellent shapeand the vulnerable chrome grille is in superb condition. This truck has never had any body repairs or paint. All of the glass is good. All hubcaps are in good condition. The tailgate has been modified with the typical farm truck grain flap but it is the cleanest execution of this modification that I have ever seen and operates very smoothly. The original bed wood floor is in amazing condition showing very little use throughout its 68 year life. Overall probably the cleanest unrestored 48-50 F3 available anywhere.
The interior is in excellent condition. It is all original except the original seat has been recently re-upholstered to a high standard.
The original Flathead V8 looks to have never been apart and it starts well and runs good. The clutch operates smoothly and the transmission shifts exactly like it should. It has been converted to 12 volt with an alternator for more reliable charging and starting. The brakes work but could do with bleeding as you do need to pump them up with the pedal sometimes.
Overall an excellent original truck and it is so hard to find them untouched like this. Whomever is fortunate enough to buy it will be very happy.
