An classic fat fendered Ford with some new tricks is here at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. We are proud to present this badass professional nut and bolt restored 1948 Ford Two-door Custom Hot Rod Sedan.
Dressed in a custom brilliant orange exterior with custom pinstriping, this car's paint and trim are in excellent condition. The tinted windows are haze- and crack-free, as are the vehicle's lights, including the Cibie driving lights. The car rolls on radial tires with 30s Ford wire wheels, painted body color with chrome beauty rings. The car's body panels are very straight and solid, including the chopped top, thin sideview mirrors, vented hood and vented trunklid and shaved "suicide" doors, the bumpers are in ideal shape and the engine bay is extremely tidy. The radio antennas have been Frenched into the rear fender. Car has no windshield wipers. There's even a Center High-Mounted Stop Light (CHMSL) in the rear.
Under that big, domed hood is a GM 350 CID V-8 fitted with a Holley carb, performance intake, exhaust headers and a Walker radiator, backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Driver assist features include air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power door locks and power windows. To run all the power accessories the Ford was upgraded to a 12V system with a modern alternator to keep things running smooth.
The front suspension has been upgraded with a RideTech/Air Ride Technologies front air bag system and is controlled from the dash. The undercarriage of this 48 Ford is absolutely impressive and is fully painted with body color and contrasting black on the pans, the frame is exactly what you want to see under a build like this! Outside this fat fender Ford is stanced handsomely with 17" spoked body colored wheels and performance tires.
Inside, are a custom and fresh butterscotch interior with front bucket seats, door panels, headliner, a rear bench and dual cupholders in the center console. All four seats are in excellent order, as is the brown carpeting. The headliner is in very good condition and the orange metal instrument panel sports a full set of VDO gauges. The aftermarket, three-spoke steering wheel has a tilting column, a rim that matches the seats' color and it is chromed. The car's door panels, mirror glass and shifter are all in good condition. Rounding out the interior is a custom stereo interface in the center console.
The final year for the old-style Ford was 1948, with an all-new model launched partway through the year. The wood-sided Sportsman convertible, supplied by the Ford Iron Mountain Plant, ended the year with just 28 built, and the all-wood bodies on the woody station wagons were replaced with steel for the 1949 season. The old car-based trucks were replaced by the F-Series this year.
This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 922 miles since the gauges were tested and reset. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, exempt mileage title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
