1965 Ford Mustang Convertible. Door tag information: Body 76A, Color A, Trim 26, Date 07S, DSO 53, Axle 6, Trans 5, VIN 5F08C72XXXX. Current owner has owned this Mustang for 37 years, and the Missourititle will verify the date. The owner also owned and operated a very successful Mustang restorationbusiness for many years turning out many high end, quality, national show winning restorations. In 1979 the owner had a chance to purchase this very nice, well cared for, original, straight, black Mustang convertible, which at that time had only been on the road for about 14 years. Shortly after purchasing this Mustang for himself,it was totally restored from the ground up, but due to an "all work and no play" life style, the Mustang was immediately put into storage, where it stayed, seldom started, never driven, and not seeing the light of day for the next 37 years, and very few peopleeven knew this car existed. The owner recently decided that he needs the storage space and that the time has come to part with his beautiful Pony. After rollingit out of storage it was determined that the new (zero mile)original 289 V8 was seized up after being in storage for so many years. A reputable top quality local Mustang restorationshop was tasked to replace the 289 with a fresh zero mile V8 engine. In addition to the new engine, a new Edelbrock 4-barrell carburetor,a new high energy electronic distributor, along with Autolite wires, plugs, and a new Motorcraft batterywere also purchased and installed. In the last six weeks nearly $4000. has been spent to bring this Mustang back to life, and the documentation is availble. The original 3-speed manual transmission and 8" 3rd member complete the drive train. In 1979 the belly of this Mustang was restored to new condition, and the amazing thing is that none of the bottom structure or panelshave ever been repaired or replaced, including allfloors, torque boxes, frame rails, and trunk floors, since the car was new. Like wise the nice body from 1979is still straight and the paint still looks amazing for being applied 37 years ago. During the restoration, the original black standardinterior was replaced with red, and still looks beautiful, and the black manual convertible top and rear window also replaced during the restorationstill look new. When the car was restored the original steel wheels and spinner hubcaps were replaced with a quality set of "Tru Spoke" brand wire wheels and a new set of General brand tires, theyearsin storage have taken some what of a toll on the wheels with some light pitting and minor rust starting, I would say the wheels are still a very nice driver quality, and of course the new zero mile, 37 year old tires will need to be replaced. The spinner wheel covers, along with a new red top boot are still in the trunk. A couple very rare options on this caris the factory Ford remote control trunk release and a locking glove box door.Current status of the car is that it isrust free, looks fabulous, will start move and stop, the dual exhaust system still looks new and sounds great, and the new fuel tank and fuel system are clean and ready. The new owner may find some minor issues that will need attention due to the long term storage, but overall this is a very solid, professionally restored iconic Mustang that would enhance any collection and make the owner proud to own it.So, if you have the funds to purchase, the ability to make minor repairs, if needed, and the desire to own one of the most sought after 1st generation vintageMustangs ever, then this might be theopportunity you have been waiting for. The current owner, has the 1979 Missouri title in hand and in his name. Car and title will be transferred to new owner when payment in full has been made. The owner recommends thecar be transported to it's new home, primarily because of the tires, but also because of it's lack of use over the last three plus decades, and he also recommends that a mechanic or someone with Mustang knowledge check the car out before it is put back on the road, and the new owner will be responsible for all associated costs. Helpcan be provided on this endwithloading the car or assisting the transporter. I have tried to describe this Mustang to the best of my ability but have probably missed something that you need to know, if so just ask. Also, if you would like to inspect this car in person before the end of the auction, again, just ask and arrangements will be made. Thanks for looking and good luck in the bidding.
