Maybe you can see in photos....original truck had considerable rust....but...I own a fabrication business with allot of blasting and restoring capabilities...some of the rear bed and bottom front were "gone" enough that I decided to replace with aluminum and cut out custom areas for a better appearance. I added some steel framing to create tool boxes on bothn rear corners...large enough on inside to store folding chairs or whatever. I'm fortunate to have fabrication buddies to laser cut aluminum panels used to customize. New glass and rubber installed all around...the 6 cylinder engine was nicely rebuilt as well as the 3 speed transmission...the "3 on the tree" shift was all rebuilt better than Ford...there are bronze bushings in all the levers on the tree and it shifts beautifully. This truck wasn't my first build...and I've always said that "Air Conditioning" is the most important feature to have. :-) ...who wants to spend all the time and money on an old truck, make it pretty, ride around and sweat!! I knew the A/C would be taxing on the 6 cyl..... so it has a second radiator(both with cooling fans)...there are additional switches on front of the engine box to run fans when you want....they really aren't needed when running in cooler weather...not running A/C...the coolant flows through both radiators all the time already anyway....normal times the engine only gets to about 160 deg....the dash has full set of Autometer gauges to show all the stats.....the new fuel tank is a larger tank than original...anyone familiar with these trucks know that Ford put a "large" 165 lb. steel block in the rear to offset the weight on the front....I removed that extra weight to accommodatethe new tank. It has a Pioneer radio that will play CD's and Ipods....also a little amp under driver seat and speakers behind both seats...plenty of sound.
Not to confuse with the photos but when truck was first done I used a white over green color scheme....strange thing happens at CTC(Cruisin The Coast) in Miss. a couple years ago...my wife and I are riding by other cruisers and their steering wheel comes off....bump the side of us....everyone ok...and coincidentally we both had Grundy Insurance...but ...now driver's side of my new little truck is now damaged a little in a couple places low on the green part...so I have the body work done and decide to change up the color some when I went back with paint....just mainly because I could. :-)......changed the bottom to the now silver color and and gave it some diferent stripes as well to match. I've used a honeycomb screen in the front grill and also the 2 side cut outs...gave the new version stripe some of the honeycomb effect.
We've loved the little truck...but...I just got another 61 model that previous owner already installed a V8....it's not a new build and will need allot of work before it feels as good as this truck...in last few months I've gained about 3 other vehicles that are nice projects....so I need to thin down....I've got a 72 Camaro listed and need to move this truck too....thanks much for looking and bid with confidence.
