Up for bids is a 1931 Model A Ford Closed Cab Pickup (82-B). This beautiful Model A underwent an expert frame-off restoration in the mid-nineties by an experienced restorer who followed the MARC/MAFCA Judging Standards
In every respect. For several years, it won many awards at local shows and once came within three points of achieving a MARC National Award at a National MARC meet in the fine point judging category. When the original owner decided to invest in a new business, the truck was sold to it's present owner who has enjoyed driving and touring while insisting it always be garaged and meticulously maintained on a regular basis. At present, the odometer shows 3,103 miles since restoration.
Although I am not the owner, I have followed its history through my local club affiliation. Over the past twenty years I have restored a dozen or so Model A's, judged at AACA, MARC and MAFCA National Meets and I can truthfully say I have never driven a Model A that runs and drives any better than this fantastic pickup! The engine runs smooth and quiet with plenty of power. Transmission shifts smoothly and there is plenty of clutch "ride". Brakes are well adjusted and very reliable.
I have inspected the restoration and it has truly been restored to Judging Standard specs down to the Ford Script glass and the correct shocks and tubular shock links. I was especially impressed by the perfect radiator, it has the correct "rippled" fins which are perfect on both sides.
Recently, several safety items have been added for touring. These include an alternator which provides better headlight brightness, a fuse atop the starter and an "Off/On" battery switch located on the left motor mount. A new battery was installed March 2015. For convenience, an electric gas shut-off switch has been installed under the dash to eliminate the need to raise the hood to access the main valve located on the firewall. Everything (except wiper) on this truck works exactly as it is supposed to from the Spartan horn, original "Pop-out" ignition switch, to the instrument panel dash light!
Obviously, this Model A is no longer in "show" condition. It does show the expected wear and tear that comes with several years of touring, however with the exception of a few minor scratches and paint chips the beautiful black paint job is in great condition with no peeling or fading. All body parts are metal and I found no rust anywhere on the body.
The truck is located in Augusta, Georgia and I would encourage anyone interested in bidding to either conduct their own inspection or send an independent representative. We can arrange an appointment any day during this auction. I value my 100% Positive feedback and have described this vehicle to the best of my ability. I encourage your questions and will answer them promptly via ebay message, text or phone 706-829-6466 (Frank).
Also, be advised that The State of Georgia does NOT issue a paper title for antique vehicles. You will be provided with a Bill of Sale and the Georgia tag registration showing the title number only. Please, do your homework and check with YOUR state D.O.T. before bidding. Some states may require an inspection of the vehicle before issuing a tag and title.
Rarely are these very desirable 30-31 closed cab pickups offered for sale. Don't let this "turn-key" driver get away! It will be perfect as a unique advertisement for a business or a great parade or touring Model A!
If you are in the market for a Model A Ford Pickup you will not be disappointed when you see and drive it! Truly an "eye catcher"!
