Car description |

Sadly, today I will be letting my family’s RARE 1973 Ford Mustang Convertible move on to it’s new owners.
Aside from our family car, I am also listing our uncle’s 1968 Ford Mustang 289 so if you have any interest please check in my other listings.
This 1973 Mustang has the last of the big boy 351 Cleveland motors in her – the previous owner had the motor overhauled and it is very powerful. There is an interesting story behind this Mustang – the previous owner bought it from Miami on eBay as well. He purchased it for $18,000 and immediately drove it to a local speed shop here in Orlando and dropped another $5,000 to make it completely safe for his elderly wife to drive it on the weekends.
This pretty girl has a laundry list of RARE factory creature comfort options as follows:
- Tinted Windows
- Tilt Steering Wheel
- All 4 Power Windows
- Selectaire Air Conditioning / Ice Cold (converted to R134a)
- Power Steering
- Power Disc Brakes (Front)
- Tachometer / Trip / Ammeter / Oil Pressure / Water Temp (Sport gauge pack above radio)
- Center Console with lid
- NASA style hood with mock air inductions
- Convenience Group Lights
- Intermittent Windshield Wipers
- Color Keyed Racing Mirrors
- C-6 Select Shift Automatic Transmission
- 2.75 Traction-Lok Rear Axle
Included of course will be the Marti Report on this vehicle which will go into much more detail.
As you can see from the pictures, she looks like a million bucks – but keep in mind, she has had some work done on her way before my time and the old restoration is beginning to show. The paint, although stunning from 10 feet, is starting to show it’s age as well. Keep in mind, this is a 44 year old classic car that we drive every single day. This isn’t a trailer queen that is going to cost you $25k just so it can be stored away and never enjoyed.
She has had her interior dyed black over the years and although it still is in great shape, there are spots that need to be retouched here and there. The motor is solid and as I said before, pretty darn fast! I have noticed a few drops of oil here and there – I’m no mechanic but I think she’s in need of valve cover gaskets possible (?). The AC was converted over to R134a and blows ICE COLD here in Florida – I have a brand new fan blower to go with her as the original one likes to whine for the first minute when you turn on the air.
All gauges work, although I disconnected the Tach as it made a hum from the MSD located in the foot well (just a personal annoyance nothing to do with performance). All lights work as well as blinkers but reverse lights need to be hooked back up. The horn was disconnected once I put on the wood steering wheel. The undercarriage looks to be in good shape aside from a few spots – I have seen websites that offer patch pieces that take care of any issues.
Please email me with ANY and ALL questions PRIOR to bidding. I am NOT a body guy nor am I a mechanic, I just love to drive old classic cars with my family!
Thank you and GOOD LUCK!
