Car description

Up for auction is my1968 FORD Country Sedan station wagonthat is well along in the process of being restored but not completed. My restoration guy lost the lease for his shop so the project came to a sudden stop. With that as the situation, I decided to see if I can hand this project off to someone who might want to finish this car and enjoy its full potential. I purchased the car in very good shape for its age--it camecompletewith all the parts and has a solidchassis with only tthree of the four floor pans needing to be replaced. The doors, hood and two-way tailgate all align very well. The left and right lower rearquarter panels had signs of rust, so left and right patch panels were purchased for $495 and they will come with the car.
The car has the stock Country Sedan grill but will also come with the LTD/Country Squire style grill with flip up headlights shown in some of thepictures, giving the buyer the choice of grills. It also has a stock roof rack with skid bars for mounting on the roof.
The interior is in very good shape (see photos). The headliner is fine. The dash is fine except for the top of the dash pad which has thetypical cracks from sun exposure (dash pad replacements and dash pad repair services can be found on line). The maroon leather seats are in overall good shape and have already been cleaned once. The leather front seat may requirea small patch and somestitching repairs. The back seats and rear well seats are also leather and in very good shape. The interior carpet is compete and just needs a good cleaning--our plan was to simply replace it since a complete a carpet kit for this model goes for just over $200. Allof the glass is free of cracks, stars and chips. A small area on the lower right side of the front windshield shows early signs for a white hue but it is not particularly noticeable. Thepower tailgate window also works perfectly. The engine runs well. It smokes a little when first started but then stops after a few minutes. My restoration guy is telling me it's arelativelyminor fix at some pointin the future. We think the car needsnew brakes even though it was listed by the previous owner hashaving new brakes. The tires and Crager wheels can be seen in the photos.
The carhas power steering andnew shocks. The car had not been on the road since 2006, but started right up when I purchased it in August 2015. Since then, it has been run regularly and moved repeatedly while the restoration work was ongoing.
Please review the photos carefully and you'll see the hundreds of dollars in parts andlabor that have already been invested in this car and you'll easilyrecognize the tremendous potential has to be astunning, head turning classic when finished. The project isreally not far from being in the home stretch--install the patch panels, do theminor body work, give it a paint job, an exhaust system, reinstall the interior and put it all back together. After that, some minor engine work and a tune-up and you should beready to head to the beach!
Please note again that this is a project car. Some photos were taken beforethe restoration work began. Photos of the disassembled interior and front end represent where theproject is in its current state.
My restoration guy is truly an expert whose work hasgotten awards at major national car shows. He will gladlywalk you through the project and answer any questions farbetter than I can. Call me first in Maryland at: three oh one, five oh nine, one double-oh five. Let's make a deal!
