1968 Ford Bronco Rebuilt

Rebuild Modifications and Upgrades

1968 Ford Bronco — built for United States Air Force Base in Utah 1968.

The original 4 X 4 utility vehicle was equipped with a ford six cylinder engine. Three speed column shift manual transmission, manual steering, 4.11 differential gears, with drum brakes and single shocks at all four wheels.

Frame - Original Bronco was completely stripped.

Frame was stripped, sandblasted, primed and painted with premium Sherman Williams industrial Metal Coatings

Suspension - James Duff Stock Height Dual Shock Suspension Kit Installed. Designed for better handling as part time off road racer/chase vehicle like the Baja Bronco, with street handling characteristics. A 4x4 sports car.

· dual shocks with welded to frame mount, front and rear with new boots and bushings

· new variable rate coil springs on front

· new leaf springs and shackles on rear

· new bushings including front and rear control arm bushings

Front Axel - Dana 30 front axle completely stripped and rebuilt.

· all new seals and bearings

· new 3.54 differential gears from Yukon Gear and Axel

· new dana 30 spindles

· new manual locking hubs from Warn 4x4

Rear Axe - Ford 9 inch rear completely stripped and rebuilt

· new limited slip differential from Detroit Locker

· new 3.54 differential gears from Yukon Gear

· all new seals and bearings

Drive shafts - front and rear drive shafts rebuilt with all new u-joints

Brakes - brakes upgraded with power brake kit from Tom’s Bronco Parts

· front brakes upgraded from drum to disc brakes

· new front disc hubs

· new front calipers and pads

· new rear drums and shoes

· new rear wheel cylinders

· new power brake vacuum booster

· new master cylinder

· new proportioning valve

· new linkage and brake pedal

· new stainless steel braided flex hoses at each wheel

· new OEM factory pre-bent stainless steel brake lines from Inline Tube

· new main and secondary manual emergency brake lines

Transmission - Transfer case - 3 spd manual replaced with automatic transmission

· rebuilt 1974 Ford C4 automatic transmission

· new torque converter

· new filter and vacuum regulator valve

· new transmission cooler lines

· new column shifter

· new carb/trans kick down lever

· 1974 Dana 20 J-shift transfer case installed with new seals and updated yoke

· new speedometer gear (in transfer case)

· new improved J-shift linkage with chrome shifter from James Duff

Engine - old six cylinder replaced with V-8

· remanufactured Ford 302 cubic inch (5.0 liter) engine

· new high flow water pump

· new Edlebrock Performer aluminum intake manifold

· new Holley Truck Avenger 4bbl carburetor

· new performance distributor and ignition

Steering - manual steering replaced and upgraded with close ratio steering kit from Tom’s Bronco Parts

· new billet steering shafts and u-joints

· new close ratio steering box

· new power steering pump, reservoir and hoses

· new modern tilt steering column from Flaming River Customs

· new turn signal controls and auto trans shifter

· new custom Ford Bronco steering wheel from Tom’s Bronc Parts

· new tie rod and linkage bushings

· new upgraded steering damper from Tom’s Bronco Parts

Electric - all electric stripped and replaced

· new wiring harness kit from Painless Wiring

· all new wire, labeled with soldered and shrink wrapped connections

· new switches for lights, signals

· rebuilt windshield wiper motor and mechanism

· new heater core with rebuilt box, motor all new wiring and ducts

· new updated mini-fuse box

· new updated digital dashboard speedometer and gauges from Dakota Digital

Interior - new updated rally style seats with modern headrest

· new updated shoulder harness seat belts

· completely stripped and rebuilt doors with new windows, felt, rubber and crank mechanism

· new steel interior door panels

· new arm rests and center console

· custom interior half-cab roll cage

· No Radio or Speakers – Wired for it

Body - body tub removed from frame and completely stripped sandblasted and painted

· all rust cut out and replaced with new steel welded in

· new steel floor pans welded in

· window frame stripped and rebuilt with new stainless steel window hinge and new rubber seal

· quick release door hinges with new bolts and backing plates

· new steel half-cab bulkhead with new seals and rubber

· new galvanized OEM FoMoCo reproduction tail gate with new hinges and release mechanism

· new OEM steel hood with updated hydraulic hood props and new rubber hood bumpers and bushings

· All body seals replaced with new rubber

· all new body/frame bushings with 1” body lift

· fenders cut with Flex Fender Flares installed with aluminum rivets

· new Fiberglass removable half-cab with new rear glass and seals from Tom’s Bronco Parts

· New OEM style chrome bumpers
