* 1962 FORD GALAXIE 500 SUNLINER ! * * Original California Car ! * * One Family Owned ! * * 352 CI V8, Low Miles ! *
Before you and up for bid is my 1962 FORD GALAXIE 500 SUNLINER Roadster Coupe. The particulars of the Sunliner are as follows:
* Originally a California car, the car has been ranch owned in Colorado by a second family member for the last 47 years.
* A straight, bone dry car throughout. Other than the minor trunk lid spots, there is NO RUST present. The carpets have been removed to illustrate how solid the floors and trunk pan are. I can go around the car completely with magnets, and they'll adhere. (see pic)
* Only 103,466 actual miles since new
* Save for a minor tractor incident at the right rear corner, (see pic), there is no accident history.
* 1st year of the redesigned "bigger body" GALAXIE series.
* 352 CI V8, original to the car, never out, 2 bbl carburetor
* Cruise-O-Matic 3 speed automatic transmission
* Power Steering, Power Brakes
* Non-Smoker, NO pets
* Period correct CRAGAR SS Mag Wheels, in very good condition with nice luster
* 4 New HANKOOK 215/75-14" Optimo Tires, period WESTERN chrome slotted wheel with good spare, original bumper jack
* Original AM Radio, 8' aerial antenna
* Very nice bright work, all trim is present and in good condition with the exception of the two outer headlight rings, the right rear taillight eyebrow, and the Galaxie fender emblems. There is one 390 Thunderbird emblem.
* Power Top, goes up & down properly, the frame is in very good condition, I recently removed all of the original top material.
* All buttons, knobs, and stalks are present
* All safety features, lights, turn signals, wipers and horn are operational. I do have the horn rim.
* Decent sun visors and kick panels.
* The trunk lock needed to be re-keyed, it will be installed, two keys will be provided
* The hinges do hold the hood up
* Gauges are functional, fuel, temp, speedometer as well as the assortment of monitoring indicator lights
* While seat belts were not mandatory equipment in 1962, this was the first year that domestic auto manufacturers provided front seat belt anchors, the Galaxie does have two front seat belts.
* Last registered in 2013, at that time the gas tank was removed and cleaned. The brakes were done, and the wheel bearings were replaced. It received new belts, hoses, thermostat, filters, a battery, and fresh fluids.
* The glass is all original, there is however, a crack in the windshield. The windows roll up & down, the wing windows open & close
* At 55 years of age, the Sunliner is still in good condition. It starts right up, holds a steady idle, drives and backs up accordingly.
* One repaint in factory FORD "B" code Medium Turquoise approximately 30 years ago, the sides (doors, fenders, and quarters) have held up, the paint does show age on the hood and trunk
* Turquoise interior (37, trim)
* Nice front bumper, the rear bumper has some chrome flaking toward the left, (see pics)
* Decent Grill, no breaks
* The emergency brake holds firmly and releases
* The upholstery was reupholstered in black many years ago, it is in good shape front & rear...though it needs to return to Turquoise.
This FORD Galaxie 500 Sunliner was the 69,031st car to be manufactured by FORD during the first week of June, 1962. It is an instantly recognizable classic antique roadster. The TLC it deserves is as follows:
* The seats need to be reupholstered in turquoise.
* A new top
* A new muffler
* A new windshield
* New carpet
* The dash pad does have cracks, it ought to be replaced or covered. The steering wheel does have age cracks.
* Minor repair to the trunk lid and right corner.
Price these for yourself and you'll find that these are all inexpensive and easy areas to address.
The pricing of the GALAXIE 500 reflects these areas and the overall condition.
You are bidding to purchase the GALAXIE, not to be the first to look at it. Thank you.
Please consult with your spouse, therapist, pet, or MAGIC 8-BALL, prior to placing your bid as I am not running a clinic for the confused.
The car and I are presently located in S. Florida. (Naples/Ft. Myers vicinity.
If you are a type A personality and choose to fly in, drive home and create a memory, I will gladly pick you up from the International Airport in Ft. Myers. With that said, I DO NOT advocate it. Old cars are just that...old. Miles from home in an unfamiliar location is not the place to become acquainted with your "new" old car. Get it home first I always say.
I have set a reasonable and fair reserve for the SUNLINER. Finding a comparable one for less is unlikely. It is commensurate with the condition, ownership history, and low miles for the year. DO NOT ask me what the reserve is, as I will not disclose it. Bid what you can afford and are willing to pay for the classic 1962 FORD GALAXIE 500 Sunliner Convertible Roadster Coupe that you see before you.
Delivery is the sole responsibility of the buyer. I own a single auto transport. The "buy it now" for the GALAXIE is a very reasonable $8500.00. At $9500.00, I will deliver it to your door anywhere in the lower 48 states.
A $1000.00 initial payment is due within 24 hours of auction close VIA PayPal. The balance is then due and payable within 7 days thereafter under condition and arrangement made between myself and the buyer. NO EXCEPTIONS.
The balance is to be paid VIA a legitimate bank to bank wire transfer, as it provides a documented record of the transaction for both parties.
I do NOT accept PayPal for the entire purchase, only the initial $1000.00 payment.
If you are to fly in and drive home, or arrive to trailer the car yourself, I will accept cash in person provided that it is within the 7 days of auction close time frame.
* If you are "new" to eBay, have 0% feedback, or excessive negative feedback, you will need to call me prior to placing your bid and express your intentions. If you do not call prior, your bid will be cancelled, and you will be blocked from further bidding. This is to protect the integrity of the auction from disingenuous bidders.
* I require the winning bidder to contact me by phone within 24 hours of auction close to discuss arrangements for the delivery/pick up of the car, and balance payment.
The Galaxie and the title to the car will not be released until payment in full has been received. Upon receipt of payment in full, I will overnight VIA FEDEX the title and bill of sale to the new owner. If you are to fly in or arrive to trailer it yourself, I will offer the option of hand delivering these to you upon your arrival.
I am not a dealer, I am a collector hobbyist. Since 2007, I have sold more than 30 of my personal vehicles through eBay. Nearly all have had their expectations exceeded. Where classic vehicles are concerned, condition is subjective and open to interpretation. I always strive to accurately and honestly represent the condition of a vehicle.
Given the age of the GALAXIE, by bidding you acknowledge your understanding that the car is being sold in "as is" condition, with no written, expressed or otherwise implied warranties. Please have realistic expectations for a 55 year old unrestored automobile.
I answer my phone quicker than I respond to e-mail, call me directly with any questions. Do not assume anything not referenced is included.
If you call and reach voice mail, leave me a brief message and I will return your call promptly.
eBay only provides for 24 pictures. I have selected pictures that best present a concise overview of the car. If you would like any area specific pictures, simply ask for them.
Buyers from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Russia, Australia, and New Zealand are welcome and encouraged to bid with confidence. If you are an international buyer, I am available to assist in getting the car to your requisite port for reasonable expenses.
Being rock solid, this GALAXIE 500 Sunliner is a great candidate for a full restoration, or simply address the top, carpet, upholstery and muffler, and you're ready to summer cruise or pile the grandkids in an ice cream run. The GALAXIE always garners compliments and receives the "thumbs up".
This SUNLINER is an investment, it will never be worth less. The last one I had, I sold in 2012. That car brought $13,500.00, and was as nice as one recently offered here on eBay. In the past 5 years, quality examples of these cars have climbed into the low to mid $20's. Double that and more for show cars or 406/427 examples.
Here's your opportunity for an affordable '62 GALAXIE 500 Sunliner Convertible...one that won't break the bank.
Thanks for looking and good luck when you bid!
