Car description |

Ford Custom with Carson Top, Cadillac tailight frenched, air bags on the front with dual compressors in the trunk in case you want to bag the rear. I was told the Carson top came from Gene Winfield shop in California. I bought it to cruise around with my kids and take them to their games and practices. Now they drive their own cars with friends and I would like the space in the garage...
It starts well now that I put an electronic distributor on. It is carbureted so you gotta get fuel there by giving it a few pumps on the pedal. It is not like todays EFI. The top comes off in one piece, it is fiberglass with white vinyl cover. The top is secured with two bolts in the back and a seat belt buckle on the windshield. Frame is solid. It is a lead sled they did not skimp on steel in 1953. I did not do the body work. When I bought it the car was purple. I hired a guy to come and paint it hot rod black at my house. I am 100% certain there is filler. There are no exterior door handles either so that was filled at some time. The paint is flat hot rod black and is in no way flawless.
If you are looking for flawless and no filler this is not the car for you. Flawless sells for over 50K. The transmission drips oil from the kick down and rear tail shaft. I usually have to add 1 quart a summer. The engine also drips oil I believe from the dipstick and I have to add 1 quart of oil over the summer as well. It doesn't leak enough for me to mess with. There are no windows just so you know...
