Car description |

We got this 428 Cobrajet engine from a cache of several other Mustang items. This engine had been lightly used its whole life. Under 50,000 on this engine and was used in a non-Mustang Ford driven only sparingly. The car was too rusted to save but the engine was still in nice shape.
Super early January 1968 production date (8A4)..makes this engine one of the earliest produced!!!
As you can see it still has modest surface rust on it. Complete from Carburetor to oil pan but may have a small accessory needing replacing. Absolutely NO cracks. NO rust-throughs. The engine turns over easy by hand and should start right up with some carb rebuild work and basic maintenance.
Through the years the heads were changed out to 390 heads and the intake was changed out to a 390 intake. The original 428 Cobrajet intake is STILL AVAILABLE with this engine and will come with a winning bid for this engine.
The block is a super rare 1967 production date. If you look at the Mustang-Tek attachment I included for this unit, youll see its date correct vehicles. It is one of the ONLY Cobrajet DATE CORRECT blocks that can be used in the build of the 1968 Shelby GT500, or the rare 1968 1/2 Cobrajet Mustang. While its use extends through to 1970 the unique year makes this engine more valuable that most others in date value.
The components in this engine are almost all original Cobrajet. It is pretty much drop in and go, with some carb rebuild work needed. 2u crank. We added an air filter cover from an old 429 we had. No knocks or smoke in the car it was in. It comes with an air filter cover with partial snorkel. Dont spend $14000 or even over $10000 for other standard Cobrajet engines on EBAY.
Being sold as-is, how-is with right to inspect. No warranties expressed or implied. BEING LISTED AS LOCAL PICKUP but we can help pallet the engine and get it shipped anywhere in the US for you for the lowest possible price. Weight is about 900 pounds including the extra manifold and pallet. Local pickup is fine.
$500 paypal due at auction end. Balance is due within 3 working days as wire transfer to our business account. If you see our feedback, we actually sold this exact block to another buyer out in California...and that was for JUST the bare block...Bid with confidence. Email with any questions.
