Car description

1955 Ford Fairlane
Description
This car is a real head turner. Its not show quality, but it is in great condition for a 62 year old car. It has what I believe to be its original 272 V8 engine and 3 speed manual transmission (3 on the tree). I couldnt find any numbers to verify the engine... but I did find matching numbers on the cars data/vin plate and the vin stamped on the front frame rail. This is an older restoration according to the story passed down from the previous owner (done around 2006). The exterior is in great shape with the exception of a small dent on the passenger door. The paint is presentable but doesnt have the high gloss shine of new cars. The interior is in great shape. The carpet and upholstery look good and the headliner is nice with no rips, tears or sagging. The car seems to drive and stop fine. I have not driven it a lot since I only did a title-only transfer when I purchased it. I have driven it to and from work a few times (about 6 miles each way) and around the neighborhood a few times just to show it off to friends. It starts and runs, drives and shifts through all 3 gears and reverse, and seems to stop fine. The headlights (regular and high beam), tail lights, horn, interior blower motor, speedometer, turn signal lights, and fuel gauge all work. The radio, interior dome light, and brake lights are not working. It also does not have seatbelts or side rearview mirrors. The windshield wipers appear to still be vacuum driven and when I turn the knob, they go half way up on the dry glass and stop. The tires still have plenty of tread on them, but I do not know the age of the tires. I included a couple of videos below and several pictures so you can see as much detail as possible. The gentleman that I purchased the car from had recently had the fuel tank and fuel lines removed and cleaned, new fuel pump, and rebuilt the carb. It had been siiting for some time before he got it so the fuel system needed the overhaul. He also replaced the distributor. Shortly after I purchased it, I ended up havig to replace the radiotor due to a leak that wasnt repairable. I put in the aluminum radiator and added the braided hose covers. It still uses its 6volt system and generator. Very cool classic thats fun to drive and tinker with. I have a clear title in hand ready to sign over.
Payment / Shipping
If you win the auction, I ask for a $500 non-refundable deposit through paypal within 2 days of auctions end to show you are a serious buyer. Then, the remaining amount can be given in person by cash if picking the car up yourself. If picking up the car, please plan to haul it by trailer instead of driving away. I am not comfortable with anyone driving it far distances while the title is still in my name. If you are shipping the car, I will need a cashiers check sent to me before your shipping company picks up the car. I will send the signed title and bill of sale once full payment is recieved. I have done business in the past with a shipper based out of California that has always been reliable with any car moves nationwide. If you would like for me to get you a quote, let me know your zipcode an I can call them and get a price. The way it typically works is you will fill out a form and pay a portion of the shipping cost by credit card at the time the shipping order is placed... and then pay the remaining amount of the shipping cost by cash to the driver when the car arrives.
