Car description

For your consideration is an unrestored, original 1914 Model T Ford roadster pickup. This Model T began life as a Touring car with the standard 3 doors, however a Michigan farmer probably decided he needed a pickup more than a rear seat. He ordered a pickup bed kit from Sears Roebuck which cost about $15.00 or so back in the day. This Model T still has the original engine which was cast November 20, 1913. That date is cast on the engine block. The stamped engine number matches that date as well. Model T Fords were crank start only until an electric starter was an option in 1919. So this original Model T is crank start only. However that isn't a problem. Our daughter-in-law has cranked it as well as more than one of our grandkids. In the years that I have owned this Model T the transmission bands have been replaced with new Kevlar which is very durable. I have also had the thrust washers in the differential replaced with modern brass material rather than the original Babbitt. Hopefully the attached pictures will tell you a lot about the car, however if you have specific questions please ask. The headlights have been fitted with halogen bulbs which give very good/bright light. There is also an added stop light in the rear for safety reasons, and it works. There is a 12 volt battery in an old Remington ammunition box in the bed that is used for starting and operating the headlights. There is no generator and one isn't needed since the car can be driven many miles on the battery or magneto. In one picture you will see a button on the floor in front of the seat. That is a muffler by-pass. There have been times that I was driving the car up a slight hill and using the muffler by-pass would give the car just a little bit more energy. A Model T has 20 horsepower so every little bit helps. You may see a pocket watch in the original holder on the dash. The watch doesn't work but if you want one that works they are pretty cheap and easy to find. I have also had the rear hubs professionally checked recently and they are in good shape with new packing. We have driven this Model T a lot, the longest trip was about 60 or 70 miles with no problems. We drive it to church on nice days and this old car always brings more smiles and thumbs up than any old car I have ever had. By the way, the state of Texas didn't issue license plates until around 1917 so I found the set of New York plates on eBay and put them on the car just for fun. The plates issues by the State of Texas are in one of the running board tool boxes. The car is for sale on other sites so the auction could be cancelled at any time if a sale takes place. There is a clear Texas title in my name and the reserve on the car is less than what I have in the car. Wire transfer is the preferred method of payment and shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions.
