Car description

Mustangs are timeless, but some are simply better than others. This 1967 Ford Mustang convertible gets everything right, from the C-code 289 under the hood, to factory A/C, to outstanding originality that is rarely seen on the road these days. Good Mustangs are hard to find, and this one is very, very good indeed.A survivor is the best way to describe this car, because other than a what appears to be a vintage respray, this car is shockingly original and well-preserved. The car has always lived in the south, so it's spotless throughout, and it seems that everybody who has owned it has cherished it. Always a hobby car and not a daily driver, it was easy to keep it in outstanding condition and today it shows a soft gloss that looks right on a car from this vintage. The code A Wimbledon White paint is a timeless Mustang color, and although the door tag says it was Springtime Yellow, it's almost impossible to detect a color change at any point in time. We're at a loss to explain that, because there's just no trace of a repaint or yellow paint anywhere on the car, so perhaps it's one of those rare factory errors on the tag. You'll also find shiny chrome bumpers at each end and it sure seems like someone buffed the stainless, and it looks fantastic against the white paint. Everything on this car has a great vintage look that fits together very well.To give you an idea of how well-kept this wonderful Mustang really is, check out the all original black bucket seat interior. Yes, original. Hard to believe, but like the rest of the car, it's led an easy life with people who have loved it. Except when someone was behind the wheel, it wasn't subject to the ravages of the elements, so the seats show modest wear and no UV damage, the carpets are maybe a little faded, but definitely not enough to replace, and the back seat looks like new. The original gauges are a little faded, perhaps, but you'll be pleased to see options like factory A/C and a center console. An AM/FM/cassette radio replaces the original AM radio above the "garage" storage area in the console. The only significant non-original part is the black convertible top, which is new. The trunk is outfitted with a correct mat, full-sized spare with cover, and matching tool bag.The numbers-matching C-code 289 cubic inch V8 remains entirely original and it runs superbly. While it isn't detailed for show, it sure looks well-maintained and clean and almost all the equipment looks like it was installed on the assembly line. Ford Blue on the engine and air cleaner, and correct decals throughout make it look very authentic, and the 200-horsepower 289 is a wonderful travelling companion for a ragtop Mustang. The 3-speed automatic transmission is a nice choice as well, and it includes power steering and power brakes, so it's a breeze to handle around town. The undercarriage is completely original and untouched, but it's solid and clean, and hasn't been "upgraded" with a loud dual exhaust or oversized wheels; you can even see the original red oxide primer on the floors! A new gas tank hangs out back and it still exhales through a single exhaust pipe that has a pleasing V8 sound. Even the original steel wheels wear the factory-issued hubcaps and a set of 205/75/14 whitewall radials that look right.Beautifully preserved and still a lot of fun to drive, this is a cool Mustang with a great story to tell.
