Car description |

This auction is for my 1970 Ford Mustang fastback (sports roof). I purchased it this spring from an estate sale but after looking it over better I've realized it needs more work than I'm able to do so now it's for sale. Please review the following information:
I will be glad to show it to any interested bidder and would in fact prefer that somebody inspects it before bidding. It's stored nearly an hour from our home so an appointment would have to be made in advance. Daytime viewing is best for me, I don't drive much at night.
Must be picked up within 4 weeks from either check clearing or payment received in full. Any time past that will be $50/week. Stays where it is until any checks clear, buyer needs to arrange and pay for transportation but I can help by recommending a local transporter that's done well for my family and friends.
All in all, it would be a lot of work, it is rusted, but parts are available and when it's done, it will be really sharp! As a friend told me the other day, "It's got great bones!", he meant that it's mostly complete, hasn't been crashed that I can tell, just old and tired but would be a fun and worthwhile project.
- Clear Minnesota title in previous owner's name, I didn't transfer it because I wasn't sure what/when I'd do anything with it.
- Tires are good - I purchased them because the original ones on it were in poor condition. They are used but in good shape.
- Car has been sitting since 1985, unused and not even started.
- Car was a 1-owner up until I bought it from the estate.
- Original owner had wanted to restore it so just stored it all of these years, passed before he did anything with it.
- Car is rusty - from what I can tell, it needs floor pans, front and rear frame rails, one door skin for sure, possibly a trunk lid - edge is rusty, quarter panels and inner wheel houses. These parts are all available from many suppliers!
- It is NOT in running condition. However, engine does turn over by hand.
- It's a V-8, automatic transmission. I have no idea if numbers match - don't know where to look. No power steering, no power brakes, no air conditioning - just a basic Mustang.
- Interior would need to be replaced - seat vinyl is cracked, dash is also cracked.
- Glass is good except for windshield, that's cracked.
- Has a fold-down rear seat.
- From what I can tell, the body hasn't been hit in the past.
- Quarter panels had fiberglass flares on them, moisture got between them and the body and I suspect that's why they rusted so badly, but who knows.
- I have no idea if the miles shown are original or accurate.
- Nice spinner hubcaps.
- Rolls easily.
- Nice color combination - the orange would be very striking when done!
- Some extra parts in trunk.
- Rolls and steers easily.
- Also included are another set of front fenders, much better than the ones on it.
- Does have rear spoiler that appears to be an original, not reproduction.
