Car description

Perhaps you haven't noticed yet, but Mustang prices are on the move. After 20 years of sitting at the same level, clean ponies like this 1967 Ford Mustang convertible are seeing some rather big strides in the market. That shouldn't be a surprise, since it is America's favorite pony car and this one, with its 289 and awesome color combination, provides the kind of classic top-down fun that made the Mustang a legend.Yes, the code W Clearwater Aqua is this car's original color, although it's been rendered here in two-stage urethane, so it looks deeper and shinier than the original enamel. It looks as though it's only a few years old and there's clearly a bunch of time invested in getting it right, because this isn't one of those sloppy Mustangs you see at the local cruise night. No, this one has good gaps, smooth quarter panels, and a hood that sits flush. We also like that it hasn't been dressed up like a GT or something like that, keeping the simple, honest look that a vast majority of these cars wore when they were new. Dressing these cars up always makes them look like they're just trying too hard. Instead, focus on the important stuff like the chrome bumpers, the proper emblems, and the gorgeous back end, with the neat chrome trim rings around each taillight lens. You've seen Mustangs before, but when you really stop to admire the details, they sure look good don't they? The black interior is also how this car was originally spec'd and it's a refreshing change from the usual white setup. The seat covers and carpets were probably new when the car was painted, so they still look great, and an aftermarket center console was added for comfort and convenience with two spare cup holders. The stock steering wheel with its extra tall steering wheel is a familiar Mustang look and all the gauges are brightly restored with clear lenses to really make them shine. An original Ford AM radio still lives in the dash and yes, it works, but we suspect that you'll be enjoying the ride too much to worry about the radio. The top is power-actuated, so you can go alfresco in a matter of seconds, and there's a matching black boot that gives it a tidy look. The trunk is also correctly restored with a plaid mat and a full-sized spare that's suitably vintage. The engine is a C-code 289 cubic inch V8, which means a 2-barrel carburetor and 200 horsepower. In the lightweight Mustang, it's still plenty punchy and makes all the right sounds. The engine bay has been recently and comprehensively detailed with correct Ford Blue on the engine and satin black on the fenders and firewall. No chrome dress-up, but it does have correct little stuff like the decals on the air cleaner and a yellow-top ignition coil to make it look factory fresh. You'll be happy to see power steering on this Mustang, always a nice perk, and the smooth-shifting C4 3-speed automatic makes this a get-in-and-go type of car. The underside is shockingly clean and uses a correct single exhaust with transverse muffler for just the right soundtrack to go with your summer cruise. Recent shocks, a new gas tank, and 3.00 gears all add up to a car that is always ready for whatever you want to do. Upgraded Styled Steel Wheels look great and carry 14-inch Uniroyal whitewall radials.Documented with a Marti report, which says this is one of only 420 Mustangs with this color combination, this is a great-driving Mustang that's sorted and ready to enjoy.
