Looking for the perfect Ford F-1 project truck? You found it!
This ’48 F-1 pickup was a South Dakota farm truck all its life until I bought it 2005 and shipped it to SC for restoration. The previous owner inherited it from his grandfather.
I’m now in Chicago and the resto has stalled so I’d like to find a good home for her. The body is currently disassembled and needs someone to finish up the paint and body on the cab and front end and put her back together – or put her back together like she is – and enjoy! Over $30K in the build so far.
I have lots of other pics of the new parts I can provide. Located in Greenville, SC. Easy access from the interstate.
Here is the detail of what has been done to the truck since I bought it:
Suspension and Drivetrain:
- Mustang 2 front suspension with new disk brakes
- 2003/2004 LT-1 Chevy engine with extremely low miles, complete with factory alternator, AC compressor and Power Steering pump (I bought the engine and transmission in 2005)
- Matching 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission
- Computers and wiring kits are included and match the engine and transmission
- New aluminum radiator
- The frame has been thoroughly cleaned and painted. Only needs a power wash to clean it up. There is some very minor surface rust as it was in a carport for a while.
- Early 70s Ford rear end with new hubs and brakes
- S-10 rear leaf springs
- Drive shaft mounted - with new universals
- New dual exhaust mounted
- Fuel tank mounted in rear of the frame. Fuel access through the bed side with mock Audi TT fuel door. Fuel lines have been run
- Power brake booster has been previously mounted on the firewall and ready to install
- Tilt steering column mounted and connected to the new rack.
- The wheels and tires are to make it a roller and are included.
Body (all steel, rust has been repaired):
- New stainless steel bumpers
- New tailgate
- New bed front panel
- Bed, tailgate, rear fenders and running boards have been finished in gloss black. (NOTE: the parts are dusty in the pics but are nice)
- Body work on the cab, doors, front fenders and hood has been started and is advanced but has not been finished. (These parts are currently in flat black to prevent rust.)
- Underside of cab floor has been cleaned and coated with bed liner
- Vent windows removed from doors to accommodate one-piece door glass
- New door latches (need adjustment)
- AC/Heat pass-through mounted in the firewall
- Most original hood chrome is included but has not been polished. New grill chrome
- Fuel door hole cut in bed side and ready for fuel door installation
