Car description

Up for auction is a 1976 Ford Pinto in very good condition. A little background on why I chose a Pinto to restore. When I was in high school I used my grandfather's 1976 Ford Pinto Wagon as my daily driver. I was initially going to restore his wagon, ut it was too far gone to be worth doing anything to it. We had it repainted some years back, ut the person who did it did a horrible job using bondo to fix rust spots where metal should have been replaced. I decided to pick up another one - I had always liked the smaller hatchback and I used several parts from my grandfather's car to restore this one. He passed away quite a few years ago, ut I used many of his tools I inherited and parts from his car so it's a dedication to him in many ways. One neat thing about this car is that it only has 44K original miles. I repainted the car myself and it is certainly a 10-footer but it is by no means a show quality paint job. It looks best out in the sun, ut there are a few blemishes where runs were sanded out of the clearcoat but left a mark. As noted though it looks quite nice from afar and gets lots of thumbs up, aves, nd interest when I take it out. It has been painted a two tone the way I've seen it on other Pintos with a medium green metallic and gray metallic basecoat clearcoat, ith a few small rust areas being fixed in the process. When the gas tank was removed to be replaced, he whole underside of the car has been painted and undercoated, s was the gas tank itself to prevent rusting. The car has only 44K original miles on it and the interior is in excellent condition. The only problem with the interior was the dash had a crack, ut it has been fitted with a new dash cap dyed to match the color of the interior. You don't even notice it and it looks natural to the car. The car comes with the original owner's manual, ocumentation, nd receipts for work done to it. There is an original warranty card, ome advertising information and what seems to be a page out of a Ford Marketing binder that shows this car came with the Limited Edition Special value package for 1976. The car came with power steering but has manual brakes and no A/C. The car also has lots of new parts, hich include a new radiator and hatch shocks that the previous owner put on, igh amp alternator, YB shocks front and rear, as tank, uel sending unit, arter fuel pump, arpet in both the front and rear section, park plugs and wires, attery, nd an aftermarket radio and speakers in the door a previous owner also installed. With the low miles the car does everything it should - gauges and lights all work. If you know your Pintos, ou'll notice the bumpers on the car are not original to this year. 1976 was the last year for the heavy chrome bumpers, nd they have been swapped out for the later years much lighter aluminum bumpers. I personally like them better and think they set the car off. Another upgrade that was done is the installation of a two speed and variable speed wiper switch, hich is installed and works. These cars originally came with a two speed switch only. I would describe all the chrome molding being in very good condition for its age. I have tried to describe this car to the best of my ability. It runs and drives like a car from this era does, ut I would say a carb rebuild would probably make the car run better as it has been sitting quite a bit during its life. I purchased a 1980 Firebird to work on and also found a very low original miles 87 Oldsmobile Cutlass so I have too many projects and not enough space, nd this one is now done. The car needs a good home so I'm hoping it will find one. Also included is an aftermarket rear defroster that I have not installed, ut I have run the wire from the front to the back of the car like factory when the rear panels were taken out to be refinished.

A NON REFUNDABLE $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction end and the remaining balance is due within 7 days of the end of the auction. This means if you can't pay for the car in full, lease don't bid. I will help to have the car shipped in the U.S., ut buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. If you are local you can drive it home.

The person who purchases the car will have the opportunity to purchase the stockpile of parts I have collected from my grandfather's car and I have purchased with the intent to use on this at a later time. THEY DO NOT COME WITH THE CAR AND ARE NOT PART OF THIS AUCTION. This includes a whole bunch of A/C parts, power brake booster and pedal, walker quiet flow muffler 2.25", igh flow 2.25" catalytic converter (both larger than the stock 2" exhaust), professionally rebuilt cylinder head with a ranger roller cam and some Esslinger parts, n Esslinger adjustable cam gear, CE intake to carb spacer, tock exhaust manifold, ater pump, iming belt, oses. I also have a brand new vapex carb I was also going to use that does use a different choke system than the original and would require some modification to use. I bought it for the annular fuel discharge.
