Car description |
---|
I always like to do a little research on the vehicles I own and it appears this one spent most of its life in the Northwest. During the restoration process we found a few old receipts under the seats from Idaho and a pencil under the carpet from Alberta, anada.
Body and exterior - This is the only car I have ever had restored using a rotisserie, ut I felt this was one was worth it. This was a nice little car to start with but someone had re-painted it with a strange color of blue. According to the data plate the car should have been Ford's Nightmist Blue, hich is a beautiful color - so the project began. I did much of the prep work myself, nd once I started sanding I ran into three colors of blue. The body shop which I contracted with to do the finish work and paint said the only way to do this one right was to strip the entire car. So the project began with me removing body panels and stripping them outside my shop in Montana's minus 20 degree 2011 winter. One way to tell a genuine sprint is, here were no quarterpannel ornaments, nce this car was stripped down there were no holes or welds where quarter ornaments were ever installed. What the Sprints did have were body side stripes, atching the interior, hich on this car were hand painted by my body shop. To be honest there were a few rust spots and areas on the car that looked like they may become rust so we cut them out and added new metal. Overall the floors, runk, nner fenders panels and other metal were in really good shape. The paint is once again 1966 Nightmist Blue. All glass is good, ot broken or delaminated. The wheels were powercoated, nd tires are correct in size and whitewall dimensions. The bumpers front and rear and all exterior emblems, rill and garnish are new. INTERIOR - The interior was OK but someone had sold off the console and some little punk had put one of those 10 inch chrome steering wheels on it. The entire interior was not really that bad, t just looked dowdy, acking the brilliance and luster befitting the new body and paint job, o I replaced the entire interior, ust money right? According to subject matter experts some Sprints came with the Pony interior package, nd since it is so pretty I went that route. According to where you research, he automatic Sprint or "B" package was a $120.00 - $163.40 option back in the day. I spent $629.00 alone on a new correct console and another $600 on the original correct Ford wire wheel covers. The point is if you are going to do it, o it right. The interior was repainted to freshen it up and of course new carpet, eadliner, indlace, tc., y order list from MACs was extensive. Note - the factory radio does not work; I have never looked into it as a radio in a collector car has always been a low priority to me and besides I am sure the new owner will want to design a sound system to his/her own liking. Also, lthough new, he dash pad has some wrinkles; however they may level out in the sun. The car has not been outside an entire day since its restoration. MECHANICAL - The speedometer shows 23,000 but I suspect that is incorrect. The drive train was fine but the engine had just a hint of smoke so I replaced it, nd since I was this far into it I painted and detailed the engine as well as the engine compartment as close to correct as I could to include the little wire clips, ecals, tc. While it was out I freshened up the engine with gaskets and took the transmission to a shop to be evaluated and serviced. New brakes were installed, new heater motor, he heater box was rebuilt, new fuel pump, oints, lugs, ires etc. were installed and I think we rebuilt the carburetor and cleaned the tank. The exhaust is new from the manifold to the tailpipe. Anything that was suspect got cleaned and painted or replaced.SUMMARY - This little car is an excellent example of a refurbished 1966 Sprint and it is listed in the 1966 Mustang Sprint Registry. It is economical and it is easy to work on. It is ready for you to show or cruise.
PAYMENT, ICCLAIMERS, TORAGE, nd TRANSPORTATION - I require a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours of close of the auction and the remainder prior to me sending you the title. I prefer bank to bank transfer, ashier's check or cash in person. Please only the initial $500 by PayPal, ecause of their surcharge, nless you are willing to pay that fee. Well I have tried to represent the car as honestly and accurately as I can. Please read my narrative and look closely at the pictures. The car is sold as is, here is, nd with no guarantee or warrantee implied or specified; it is after all after all a 49 year old mechanical contrivance and things can, o and will go wrong.
I am very proud of my eBay 100% rating and I will answer questions. I will post some of them so that others may benefit.
