Up for auction is one early 1965 Ford Mustang convertible. I have owned this car since 2007 but because of commitments have driven it very little, ostly parades, ruise nights etc. Since I bought it it has been an ongoing restoration as I thought it definitely should be brought up to original standards and in some cases much better. The body was done first and it had a pretty clean body for a Midwestern convertible but I replaced the quarter panels and the right front fender to avoid any future problems. The rest of the exterior body is nice and original, ven the doors. The rockers and floors were solid and I believe there were a few minor repairs to the floor area. The underside was coated with rubberized undercoat at this time. The body was done in 2007 and there is no rust showing on the car. The trunk and inner front fenders were nice and just had to be cleaned and refinished. The outer body was flat sanded and buffed( like a show car after refinishing) . The car is very flat for a blackcar and shows beautifully. The paint has only a couple of minor imperfections after eight years and is not all chipped up or scratched. It looks wet and deep like it was recently painted. The red interior vinyl, the door panels, eats, nd dash padhave been replaced. The handles, orn ring and rest of the interior chrome trim are mostly original. All the gauges, ights, adio etc. work with the exception of the horn. It has the correct period red seat belts and new carpets. The top was replaced about three years ago and has only been up and down a few times. It is a manual top. The bumpers and guards were re-chromed, therwise most other exterior chrometrim, ights, rilland moldings are original. The new U.S. Royaltires are the correct sizeperiod bias whitewall tires. I like the taller look so I didn't use radials. It has deluxe hubcaps with center spinners. The gas tank was replaced, ll brake linings, heel cylinders and steel lines were replaced including the master cylinder. The shock absorbers were replaced. The engine is the small 140 hp yellow head motor (early 1964/65), enerator motor, ompletely rebuilt. It is quiet and smooth and gets about 20 to 25 MPG. The 3 speed transmission is also rebuilt, new clutch pressure plate and t/o bearingand the drive shaft ujoints were replaced. The rear end was serviced and a new seal installed. It has a two-year-old battery. The front suspension and steering are tight and original, as new ball joints. The exhaust has been replaced from front to back including muffler. The car only has 84,977 miles on the odometer. I've only put on about 2500 miles on it in eight years. The car is very nice, hows beautifully and always draws a crowd. But please remember I did not build this as a show car, t is not a rotisserie restoration, but a very nicepretty driver. The car is 50 years old and drives like a 60's car. This base model Mustang has very few options, hich is what I wanted, didn't want to be fixing this power thing or that power thing from sitting, t is very easy to take care of.
