1967 Eleanor Ford Mustang GT500
This is a ground up restoration of Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds.
After watching the movie, was blown away by Eleanor and wanted to build a replica of her. I tracked down the company thatfabricated the Eleanor body kit and built the movie cars, inema Vehicle Services. Due to huge demand from the public to build Eleanor, he company decided to sell only 25 body kits as they were busy working on other movies. I have one of those original kits with a certificate of authenticity (see photos). They eventually sold licensing agreements to a few companies to build the Eleanor kit and the craze began.
Next,I had to find a 1967 mustang fastback. The carI found was perfect, ever wrecked, o rust, ust missing a drivetrain!I hired Mid-Cities Mustang in Euless, X http://midcitiesmustang.com/ to soda blast the car, it the Eleanor body panels, emove the shock towers and add a Rod & Custom rack and pinion front end, nd finally paint the car. Custom fabrication for the engine compartment, rive train, nd suspension was done by Brink Racecraft in Irving, X http://brinkracecraft.com/.
I originally put a 460 big block in the car but it was just too heavy in the front end. After thorough research, purchased a 427 stroker (351 Windsor block) from Keith Craft Performance Engines in Arkadelphia, R http://www.keithcraft.com/ in 2007. The engine dyno'd at 576 hp and is the perfect combination of power and reliability. The motor has a little over 4,000 miles and has performed perfectly. I have participated inseveralNorth Texas Muscle Car Challenge bracket races. With slicks, he car ran the 1/8 mile in 7.27 seconds at 95 mph.She is easy to drive with a3-speed automaticand overdrive that allows her to cruise at low rpm on the highway. I drive Eleanor at least monthly now and sometimes on a date night with my wife. As you can see in the photos, he is beautiful and I am constantly getting followed or pulled over by people wanting to ask questions and take pictures.
So why am I selling Eleanor? I have wrestled with this decision for a couple of years. But the truth is that I have a wife and two daughters who have no interest in Eleanor. We have gotten into the girls activities and boating. Unfortunately, he time I have for Eleanor is just limited and the car needs a good home andto be driven and enjoyed.I am not interested in trades. I live in the Fort Worth area and am happy to show you the car or answer any questions you have. The display photo is my car that was taken by a professional photographer to make into a poster. Other photos include the restoration process, ertificate of authenticity from CVS, nd the original deposit letter.
