1971 Ford Torino Grand Touring "GT"Sportsroof This is an extremely rare full size muscle car. According to the Marti Report this car came new out of Atlanta, eorgia. It was built in August of 1970, nddealer orderedfrom Austin Ford located at 3801 NW 27th Avenue in Miami, lorida. This is not a clone! This Ford Torino wasfactory ordered as aGT and verifiedto be authenticby the Deluxe Marti Report. This GT was ordered from the factory painted Grabber Green Metallic with laser striping, and the factory ram-air shaker hood system. It seems there has only been one repaint somewhere over the years. I do believe all the body panels to be original to this car. It does notappear to methat the color used in the repaint was the exact match to the original color. The proper Grabber Green Metallic can be seenunder the data decal on the drivers door or around the jacking instructions inside the trunk. I think that is a much more attractive green. I also showed somewhat of what the laser striping used tolook like in a picturefrom thedrivers door jamb quarter panel where the remnants of the original laser stripe still exist. This Torino was factory ordered with the sweet hideaway headlight option. The headlight doors are not connected, ut from everything I see, believe all the parts are present to have it hooked back up again. Someone with a little hideaway headlight knowledge should be able to figure it out pretty easily. I have heard there are several companies out there that sell a newly updated electrical hideaway head light system for around $300. The hideaway head light doors can be zip tied open to allow the head lights to be used. According to the previous owner this GT does have the original numbers matching 351 engine and the mileage is correct at just over 67K. I have no way to verify the mileageas accurate, ut nowadays the mileage is exempt in most states on titles for cars over 10 years old. I never learned where to check any numbers onFords. I willseek outthe numbers for any interested party that makes the request and can tell me where to locate them. This car does start right up and does run, rive, nd stop. This 351 engine does have true dual exhaust with pipes running front to back. This car is being sold as needing a complete restoration where everything on this car will need to be gone through to make it a nice driver again. It could probably be driven around awhile like it is, ut I would not recommend it. This car deserves the proper restoration deeming the rarity of its existence. I think all the body panels can be used in the restoration, ut I would suggest finding a nicer trunk lid. The chrome and trim all look straight and in pretty good condition. All four wheel opening moldings are still on the car. I don't know of anything really missing, ut the outside drivers door handle should be replaced. The white pinstriping and body side moldings are not original. I'm sure the winning bidder will want to put the laser striping back on this car. The 1971 full laser stripe kit isavailable at Phoenix Graphics for around $150, o the winning bidder can start making their list. This Torino GTwasfactory ordered with power steering and power front disc brakes, nd it looks like the master cylinder was recently replaced.Thereis a pair ofdual sport mirrors painted to match the body color. The bucket seats and console were also an ordered option along with the rear bumper guards. As seen in the pictures, he entireinterior still appears in relatively decentcondition for being original. Another great option to have on these older classics is air conditioning. The a/c on this car is currently disconnected, ut from what Ican tellall the components areunder the hood to be able to restore the air conditioning system. Adetachable faceplate Pioneer AM/FM stereo CD player is placed in the dash, ut not hooked up. This car was originally ordered with an AM radio and dual rear speakers which are no longer present. There is a set of four P215/70R14 inchGoodyear Wingfoot GT raised white letteredsteel belted radial tires with good tread onan expensive set of four all chrome Magnum 500wheels with all four bolt-on center caps, o no trim rings are required on these wheels. The front floors have had some patchwork, nd thetrunk pan could use some repair work, utthey dolook to beoriginal to this car. In my opinion, he frame is in decent condition for a 44 year old car. I didn't see any bad areas in the spots where these cars were typically known to rust out. I'm pretty sure this GT has a Ford 9" inch Posi-traction rear-end. This car is being sold with an open, lean, nd clear Wisconsin title that shows that this car was previously titled in Georgia. I have no idea how long it spent in Florida or Georgia. I acquired this car in a trade, ecause I believe it is worth much more than the car I traded. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1971 Ford Torino GTSportsroofwitha 351/285 horsepowerengine, am-air, ucket seats, nd air conditioningvalued at $35,800 in high condition, hich theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, r an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $21,374 in average condition, hich theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, rim, nd mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer! TheseTorino GT'shave consistently shown toescalate in value with each quarter. These cars are getting harder and harder to come across. Especially one in this documented color combination.
