This was a running driving street rod with a 350 Chevrolet engine and a truck 4 speed transmission.. The engine and transmission have been sold.
The truck ran well, ut the clutch linkage and the "granny gear" 4 speed transmission were very difficult to control. This is the way it was purchased. It was driven a little, nd then taken apart with the expectation of installing a Ford engine, nd an automatic transmission.
The original fenders had been patched, ut are beginning to degrade, nd are included with the truck. They could be saved by good metal working skills.
The truck had wooden running boards, o heavy weight fiberglass replacements were purchased.
The bed front sheet metal appears to need help, o a replacement was purchased.
The "as built" has a cardboard headliner which does not hold up well to moisture, o an ABS molded plastic headliner was purchased.
The fenders and running boards are only temporarily attached, ith a few bolts and "C" clamps, or the purpose of taking pictures. Whoever does the final assembly will want to fit the fenders to their requirements.
The drive shaft is included, ut the front is set for the truck 4 speed, hich had a u-joint connection at the transmission, o it would need modification if a spline joint transmission output is used. The 9 inch rear ends were just being introduced about then, nd this MAY be one of the units that is compatible with the system that was used by Ford for years. It is different from the previous design, hich dated back to the Model A.
The bed wood is not pretty, ut it is solid, nd keeps things from falling on the ground. The new bed front has been mentioned. The tailgate works, ut a replacement might be considered.
The glass is all good. The windows roll up and down. The windshield and rear window rubber mounting channels are good. The door lock works with the key.
The dash switches not shown in the pictures are attached to the wiring, hich was removed and labeled. That doesn't mean that someone would want to reuse the wiring as is, ut it would be a start. The old wiring is in a couple of boxes.
The radiator that is in the truck did work well with no problems. The hoses for the Chevy engine are included.
The truck had a Chevy truck motor installed. The Chevy truck motor was installed with the truck bellhousing, hich has mounting ears for rubber cushions, nd a front mount that attaches to the engine front. This is different from the passenger car mounting system. These mounts are included, ut limits the options to duplicating the old Chevy truck set up. Again, he as built engine and trans have been sold.
The steering is original. A smaller Grant wheel is included, long with a larger diameter version. Anyone used to late model steering will not like original steering. The condition of the gear, he king pins, tc. is not known. The front brakes are definitely shot.
The paint is chipping in some places, ut can probably be re-painted with selected touch up priming, hen a full sanding and painting. The existing color code is unknown, nd there is some orange peal in just a few spots, o a complete re-paint would probably be desired.
The truck could probably be back on the road without much work or expense. It has the original steering gear, he front brakes need a rebuild, he rear brakes may be useable. The master cylinder and pedal are gone. The firewall has been reinforced, o a pedal/master cylinder/booster assembly could be mounted there. However, ome of the parts that on the truck previously have been disposed of, o it would not just be a bolt together installation.
I planned on doing this as my retirement project, ut my health has taken a turn for the worse, o my loss can be your gain.
Please ask questions if you have any. I would like to see this truck back on the road.
