Car description

Among auto racing enthusiasts the name Abarth needs no introduction. His work building and racing cars is legendary among sports car enthusiasts. Although he built cars based on Porsche Alfa Romeo and Simca his primary work dealt with Fiat powered cars. His small jewel like engines powered dedicated race cars beautiful custom aluminum bodied cars and others based on production vehicles. The Abarth OT 1000 Spider is such a car. It was based on the early Fiat 850 Spider but with an Abarth engine and other modifications. Although many of these were used as street cars others were converted to race cars. This is a one such car-a vintage race 1967 Fiat Abarth OT1000 Spider. It was last raced in HSR vintage racing and earlier in the SCCA. It came from a collector of vintage Fiats who only displayed it in recent years. The heart of any Abarth is its motor and this car still retains the original Abarth stamped AB 202 block and ABA 202 crankshaft along with its beautiful finned Abarth aluminum oil sump and other Abarth internals. I've removed the sump pan to inspect the engine and it looks to be in excellent condition. I will leave the recommissioning of the car to the new owner. Please look closely at the pictures-you can see a few racing modifications such as auxillary radiator that is mounted in underneath front of the car. Of course there are standard race safety modifications such as rollbar fire extinguisher belts etc. This car came with standard width wheels but one of the rare 6 inch wide wheels is included as a spare. One thing about race cars is that they tend to be fairly rust free as they are almost always stored indoors. This car benefited from such treatment. There is very little rust on the car . There are a few tiny bubbles showing on one lower door and maybe some surface oxidation on a few suspension bolts but that is about it. The floorpans have been replaced and all fenders etc are in excellent condition. I don't see any indication of any previous accident damage. All Abarth emblems are still on the car and the car still sports its Abarth rear vented engine panel. The car has decent race car quality paint. It's c not concourse but it would look great going down the track (or the road if you choose to make it street legal) I also have a collection of spare parts including a complete Abarth A112 A2 70 horsepower engine other 850 and 600 engines and transmissions Abarth exhausts and clutches and more. Although these parts are NOT included in this auction I will make these parts available first to the winning bidder of the Abarth OT1000. This car is registered in my name here in the state of Georgia as a Fiat Abarth OT 1000. This paperwork is good for overseas export or obtaining a title in your state.
