1979 Fiat X1/9 19k actual miles. Garage find been in storage since approximately 1990 til my purchase from the original owner in 2011. At that time I cleaned the fuel system and got it running then put into storage again til just recently. I had to fix a few things and leaks to make it road worthy such as: reman brake calipers, new timing belt, intake gasket (was leaking antifreeze), carburetor rebuild, new catalytic converter, tune up and service. This work all finished in the last week. Beautiful all original paint, dent free body with a very few small minor scratches (about 4 or 5 less than an inch long, more like less than a half inch long and as wide as a pencil line) on drivers door like from someones ring and LH fender lip. Very minor rust on RH quarter and rear valance panel around tailpipe (see pics). It is my opinion that the rh wheelhouse seams were not sealed as well as the other side from the factory and dirt and debris accumulated there. Other wise completely rust free throughout the rest of the car. The Clarion AM radio is disconnected because it has some sort of short that will draw the battery down. I installed an electric fuel pump because the new mechanical one I put on worked for a day then quit. Apparently the mechanical one doesn't get along with the ethanol in the fuel we have here. All the emission equipment is in tact and working and I would guess it would pass smog testing (we don't have it here in Nebraska) provided the carb is set to that location/elevation. All I did to the body was wash it. Past owner waxed the heck out of it before storing. Quite a bit of wax in the cracks. This car has had extensive rust proofing done to it when new. There is a lot of undercoating and a waxol (like 3M rustfighter) coating to the underside. The tubs and under the hood was also sprayed with a waxol coating. It comes off with a wax and grease remover, see pics. The interior is original with the usual wear on the carpet (couple wear holes on driver side and usual fading), about an inch long crack in the dash by the defrost vent, the ashtray has been broken and glued and the glove box hinges are broken. I have been told the shift handle is from a Spider as the original owner liked it better but have the original to go with. Also have some new gaskets along with a repair manual and a few other things to go along with. My intention was to keep this car for my collection, I didn't know a thing about a Fiat at the time but since it was such nice condition I figured why not. I Quickly realized my 6'5" self with size 15 shoe that I can't hardly drive it. Rather than have it just sit, it needs to be enjoyed by someone who can fit in it. I am a used car dealer, auto repair and auto body shop in Columbus Nebraska in business since 1989. Even though this car was kind of a personal project, being a dealer everything I sell has to be through the dealership. As with everything I sell, this car is being sold AS IS NO WARRANTY. Although I made an effort to fix anything I found wrong, this is almost a 40 year old car and anything could go wrong! I could help arrange shipping if so desired depending on location. If your buying score is less than 1, contact me first before bidding otherwise I will cancel your bid. A $500.00 nonrefundable deposit is due within 48hrs of auction close.
